“Scenic drive, hiking, and cycling opportunities....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013

The Mount Spokane area is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those just looking for a nice Sunday drive. Road and mountain bike options are plentiful. Trail maps are available at the park entrance. Hiking possibilities are everywhere and several camping areas are available as well. A drive to the top affords great 360° views of the surrounding areas. Winter provides both downhill and cross-country skiing. This is definitely worth a visit several times a year. A $30 per year Adventure Pass is required for parking within the park.

“Summer alpine hiking, biking, driving”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Forget the modest ski resort on the east side. Come in summer and explore the other 3/4 of the mountain. There's a great paved road to huge summit views, and a fantastic trail network: the hike from the park gate to the summit is a 3 hour gut buster. Two other higher trailheads offer shortcuts. Nearly the summit the terrain is true subalpine meadow and forest. Magical, even though you wind up on the summit viewpoint parking lot.

“Can't wait for snow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Less than an hour from downtown. Once you're out of town, a rolling rural drive uncluttered with commercial eyesores. We hiked several of the Nordic ski trails and can't wait to get back when there's snow. Drive to the top is well worth the time. View as great although a little cloudy. Road closes mid-Oct.

“Mt Spokane 25km Trail Run - Great vista”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We entered the Mt Spokane 50/25km Trail Race on Sat 5th Oct, Great location, the trail offered some amazing vistas across the State and the view from the top was truly lovely. It did of course help that weather was clear and sunning.
The Discovery Pass; we purchased from the meter by the Ski Hut - this didn't work quite as expected so we ended up with a Years pass instead of a day pass; probably easier to purchase your pass prior to entering as we weren't the only ones experiencing difficulties with the meter.

“Nice hike/view, interesting stay in fire watch tower, summer-time stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

We were on a family trip, visiting from TN. We hiked up to the Fire Watch Tower at Quartz Mountain and stayed for one night (reservation required!). We are avid hikers but the altitude presented some new challenge. The fire tower was simple and sufficient with an amazing view - day AND night. We had beds, table, chairs, camping stove, and windows that provided 360 degree view. There is no running water or electricity here, so plan accordingly. My 11 year old was quite content with the view, the rocks, the night sky, and the shooting stars. You can hike to this area without staying at the fire tower - we saw many others along the way collecting huckleberries. We also hiked to a nearby spot called "stonehenge" and found a few geacaches. The next day, we drove up to Mount Spokane where the Vista House is located. This also is an amazing view with an interesting geological survey marker. We had a picnic lunch and enjoyed the chipmunks. Glad we ventured this far during our Idaho-Oregon-Washington journey!
