Jewels can be found in any state and this is Washington's. The trip through their country was beautiful. Mount Spokane is a great, natural place worth seeing.

I went along on a trip with friends and my daughter who were going to ski for the day, having been told the lodge would be comfortable to sit and read in. The "lodge" is actually similar to a high school cafeteria; the picnic type tables with attached benches and few tables with kitchen type chairs were taken, with many folks leaving all of their gear on seats and tables to "reserve" them. There were crowds beyond the capacity of the cafeteria roaming around for our entire several hour stay there, searching for space to sit and eat, shoving and shouting over the constant chatter. So I would recommend the site for skiers but don't go if you need a comfortable place to read and wait for those on the slopes.

Spokane is ringed by Mountains, the tallest of which is Mount Spokane. It is particularly lovely when it is covered with a light dusting of snow.

Mount Spokane also features one of the areas best ski slopes.

A nice paved road goes all the way to the top of the mountain.
When my children were young we would drive up to the top of the
mountain and have a nice picnic on a lazy afternoon.

When it is hot and unplesant in Spokane, the temperatures at the
top of the mountain can be 15 to 20 degrees cooler.

I have hiked and moutain biked up here. Great fun and super great exercise. You use the cross country trails for mountain biking.
