I'm a Spokane local. The South Hill is the posh area of town. Manito, Cannon and Cliff Parks are all beautiful. But Riverfront Park and stretches of the Centennial Trail are lovely, as well. When you get out of the area of the South Hill with mansions, many of the South Hill houses could be in other areas. St. John's Cathedral views (on the South Hill) are outstanding. But so are the views from bluffs on the North Hill, in the Garland District. Arbor Crest winery has a panaramic view of Spokane Valley. Spokane, in the whole, is a scenic, green city. It's a Spokane status bias that the South Hill is somehow prettier than the rest of the city. It is not.

Love this park... the rose garden, Japanese garden, sunken garden and the garden of flowers are all wonderful. Fun to walk up and down the hills taking it all in. Great place to take photos!

Take the City Tour drive and especially see Manito Park, eat at the Park Bench. Lilacs are wonderful in May, Roses in the summer. Special concerts in Manito and Comstock Park. World class neighborhoods. Trader Joe, and great shopping and eating estblishments. Best place in town to live, lots of choice of lodging at all prices. Excellent schools.

Love the southhill! It has some top rated places to dine. And the surrounding area is old world. Enjoy driving in that part of Spokane.
