“Quirky but good”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

We stayed in Skykomish in August 2013. Our party was made up of two couples travelling on four motorcycles. We hadn't planned on stopping here, but due to weather conditions we found ourselves pulling off the road & finding the Cascadia Inn.

There are several different sorts of rooms available, some with bathrooms/tv's & some with shared bathroom facilities. We took two rooms with double beds & no attached bathrooms. The bathrooms are down the hall from the rooms. They are set up similar to campsite bathrooms, with toilet stalls, shower stalls & a row of sinks. The building has a wonderful old world charm. There is a TV lounge for guests & wifi on site. We congregated in the tv room in the evening & chatted with the other guests. The rooms are excellent value for money. Rooms are very clean.

There is a restaurant attached. We had dinner there & it was very good. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't open until 10am for breakfast on week days, which was a little late for us. There is a deli around the corner that has excellent breakfast type food.

The only negative thing about Skykomish is the many trains that rumble passed throughout the night.

I would stay here again & I would recommend to friends.

(It seems this is the review page for the restaurant, I will post here as unable to find reviews for just the hotel).

“Historic Cascade Mountain City”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

We stopped here for dinner and spent the night in the very comfortable Inn connected to the restaurant in order to get an early start on a hiking trip the next day. Great dinner! very comfortable, recently remodeled rooms - check out the hand-painted decorations on walls and furniture - and friendly, helpful staff. The town of Skykomish has done a wonderful job explaining its fascinating history as one of the early railroad towns in the region. We'll be back!

“Inadequate staffing leads to negative review”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

There's no one to check you in at the Cascadia Inn when you enter the lobby, but there's a sign telling you to call a phone number for assistance. I called the first number, which went to voice mail (I didn't leave a message; it seemed odd to have to do so when there should be someone right there to answer questions and having no idea how long it would be for the call to be returned) and when we decided to leave and find a place which had desk staffing, a woman sitting on a bench in the lobby said that Henry is always in the restaurant and to try calling the other number. Not knowing who Henry is, she explained that he is the owner and can't be in two places at once. I did so and reached Henry, who came over to the lobby and explained the options available and we selected a room with a television and private bath, which you pay extra for, and had a resonable pleasant stay until we went downstairs the next morning for breakfast. We sat down at a window table and there we sat. And sat. And sat. A large group came in after we did and they were promptly given menus and shortly after their orders were taken, and we still didn't have a menu to look at. After 20 minutes, Henry came by and noticed us, asked if we had menus and we responded negatively, and he left and about 5 minutes later an older woman came up and took our order. And then we waited, and waited. The large group had received their meals and were enjoying them and we still were waiting, even though we had entered the restaurant long before the group had showed up. We finally received our food, which was very good but the poor service dampened our enjoyment of the meal. The older woman did not return to our table to replenish our empty water glasses or to see if there was anything else we would like. We finished our meals and had to wait again to get to-go boxes, and after one hour and 45 minutes we finally received our check. When I went to pay, I told him of my disatisfaction with the service and he apologized, but didn't even offer the tiniest discount on the meal. He just kept saying he was sorry. Not a good impression at all for what would have been a good review except that we went to the restaurant. We wouldn't recommend this place to anyone until Henry addresses the inadequate staffing at his property.
