We stayed two nights in the Lighthouse Suite--a cozy, simple setting with a bedroom, full bath, livingroom and kitchen. All the rooms have large plate-glass windows facing the water. We had a beautiful view of the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge from the livingroom, and a view of the Olympic Mountains from the back patio. We saw bald eagles on our morning walk, and because the motel sits at the top of a bluff above the water, the birds flying along the beach near the tree tops are at eye level. There's access to the beach right across the street. (It's a rockhound beach, not a sunbathing one.) Everything was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was well-furnished. The owners were friendly but not intrusive. It was quiet, but not too far from downtown Sequim, where we found a decent Mexican restaurant and a funky little coffee shop (The Buzz) with good coffee and ice cream, too. We would definitely stay here again.

Proprietor John Webb was very helpful. We had an end cottage with bucolic views of a farm (and cows) as well as Dungeness Bay. The cottage had its own driveway with a covered patio and picnic table. It was furnished with a couch, table & chairs, TV, Queen-sized bed, and a full kitchen and small bath. Towels and linens were supplied.

Our family members liked it so much, they joined us for dinner for two nights. We could see the cruise ships going by!

There were stairs across the road that led to the water, but as it was high - tide and the stairs were a little difficlut to navigate, we did not go all the way down.

We look forward to staying here again.

I had a comfortable efficiency apartment with a view of the bay and Juan de Fuca Strait in front and the Olympic Range out back.

It was spacious & reasonably priced for a weekday in early October.

Try it and you won't be sorry.

As a future resident of Sequim, I have stayed in the area many times over the last several years, once or twice with friends, once or twice at a major chain, but many times at the Dungeness Bay Motel. It was recommended by others who'd done the same thing--plan to retire from Alaska or Oregon or California, and visit regularly while househunting, building, or whatever.

My husband and I love its comfy unpretentiousness and waterside location, and really like the proprietors, John and Karin.

We have stayed in all the rooms--cottages, really--at one time or another, and have gotten in the habit of staying in the largest two (Juan de Fuca and Lighthouse) because they are the most house-like. With separate bedroom and roomy bath, full kitchen and living room, it really is homey.

The smaller units are very complete, too, and I've stayed in them with hubby, by myself, and even with my Mom and a friend in tow. Nice to kick up your feet and watch a little tube when you can't handle one more splendor of nature (in plentiful supply right out the front door). You have your bald eagles and expansive water views out front, and your fields, cows and mountain view out the back. And TV and wifi when you're ready to tuck in.

I've always found the units clean and welcoming, the furniture and beds comfy. That's why we keep coming back!

We were delighted with our 3-night stay at the Dungeness Bay Motel. This is a quaint collection of cottage/duplexes with lovely views of Dungeness Bay on one side, and mountains and pasture on the other side. The owners, John and Karin, are very helpful and pleasant. We stayed in the LIghthouse Suite. Our cottage had a large picture window with an awesome view of the bay, which along with a small private pebble beach is across the road (but we saw few cars). We had a fully equipped kitchen (which was supplied with fantastic coffee) a living room, separate bedroom and full bath. The cottage was as neat as a pin and spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable with generous pillows and crisp sheets. Each day as we returned from our adventures it was like coming to our cozy home-away-from-home. There is free Wi-Fi in the cottages but no in-unit telephone, and our Sprint cell phone coverage was spotty at best, but perhaps other cell providers have better coverage there.

This is a great area for those who like the outdoors. We hiked the Dungeness Spit to the lighthouse (the Spit was within view from our picture window but its a short drive to get to the trail). We also took a day trip to the Olympic National Park's Ozette Lake area and hiked the Cape Alava-Sand Point loop on the Pacific coast. We intended to go up to Hurricane Ridge which is a fairly short drive from the cottages however conditions were poor on the mountain that day. Tips: Dining out: Alderwood Bistro. Groceries: Sunny Farms.

I had wanted to relax in a bay/beachside inn and settle in with a good novel with a walk down the beach here and there or a little exploration in the town, et al. This is not that kind of place. The furniture was so worn out, I had to cut my trip early due to an aching back - and I normally do not have crippling back pain. Having stayed at many beachside places (for less money and not that far away!) - places that were/are fully equipped and furnished, this was one that probably was the cheapest/chinsiest re decent furniture (i.e., at least a couch that isn't sinking into the ground from wear or one adequately supportive chair to relax and read or stare out the window from). The only 1/2 way decent chair I could find in or near the unit was the plastic chair outside in the driveway placed there for outdoor relaxation. There was no communal patio-like furniture that one could use alternatively outside to attempt to relax in.

Where meal preparation was concerned, of all the similar places I have stayed in, this place was the stingiest and chinsiest. There was no bowl really big enough to prepare a salad in and absolutely no foil or paper towels or anything like that at all - even a starter roll or so of such stuff. There were barely enough utensils and dishes.

It is a good enough place to park your stuff and grab a light meal in the middle of the day but as far as truly relaxing there, don't count on it.

Though the proprietors were cordial, I can't say they were terribly friendly or particularly accomodating. The tenor of the place seemed to be so tied up in saving money, whatever joy and ambience there might have been in both the environment and accomodation was severely compromised.

All in all, what should have been a vacation for me turned out to simply be a costy and painful waste of time and money. If you're planning a trip to Sequim, Washington, I suggest you look for lodging elsewhere or camp out.
