“Love this Lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2008

Wow, what a fabulous Lodge. It was truly a surprise...a little gem that we stumbled upon and they made room for us. This lodge is so comfortable and beautiful with an absolutely gorgeous kitchen and all of the comforts of home...and more. The room was absolutely incredible. We couldn't believe how awesome this place is. We will totally go back. Oh and don't miss out on the hot tub...that was an awesome experience. The food was delicous and it was such a peaceful setting which made for an incredible nights sleep. Very clean and the beds are to die for! I would recommend this lodge over and over again. Thank you so much. Kim and Mark Rose from Tacoma, Washington.

We traveled through Northwest Washington in June of 2008 and took a lot of time to carefully plan to stay in selected B & Bs and Inns that we researched on the Internet.

The Lost Mountain Lodge has a beautiful web site and they've done a fantastic job marketing a serene and romantic getaway.

The location is serene and beautiful. The Lodge is a large house and guests stay in the various bedrooms. It was a very cold and stormy day when we arrived, we were windblown after walking along the ocean and keen to check in. We arrived at 4:25 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m. which was a time that we were told and this did not make the proprietor very happy. Not only did we check in at this time but the other visitors all have the same idea. The woman who runs the Lodge with her husband was very stressed, it was not a warm relaxed welcome.

Before we could go to our rooms we were made to meet with another lady who was there to assist us with our plans and ended up directing us to go to several selected restaurants. We were really keen simply to go to our room, relax and freshen up after a long day of travel in the cold and rain, we found this rather forced and contrived. The intention was good however.

I asked to use an iron shortly after we checked in and I was told by the lady who directed us to the restaurant to iron my clothes in their laundry room, she set up the ironing board for me. I was ironing away when in came the proprietors' son, who went about instructing me that I was in an area of the house that I should not be in, that guests were not supposed to be in there and the next time I should be ironing somewhere else. That really cemented was already a very contrived and sterile sense of welcome there.

Our room was a large bedroom on the upper floor (the Moonbeam Suite, the room was nice enough, however, because this Lodge was not built as a Lodge in the first place, there is very poor noise insulation between the rooms.

The first night was absolutely horrible as the room below us had been rented to friends of the proprietors who had a big-screen TV and watched movie after movie with the volume blaring and shaking the floor of our room. We finally called the proprietor at 1 a.m. and he told us to go down there ourselves to tell them to be quiet. We did not feel comfortable doing this as we questioned the character of individuals who would be so inconsiderate in the first place, therefore he came at 1:30 in the morning to tell them to turn it down. We finally got to sleep after 2 a.m. and decided that we wanted to leave the next day, not wanting to go through another noisy a stressful night. They told us that we could leave but they would not refund our payment, so we basically became hostages., The next night we had to go through the same thing, although not as loud the sound carried directly up into the room because of the poor noise insulation. It was absolutely terrible from this perspective. The proprietors were not interested in our comfort or satisfaction, they were interested in the money that we brought with us to pay for two very noisy nights.

I would not recommend staying here, although it appears to be a beautiful place on the surface, it is not a welcoming, serene place to stay like so many of the B & Bs in Washington state are (although they do market themselves very well.. beware).

We are very sorry that these guests had this experience. We were happy to greet them when they arrived as we were welcoming other guests during our normal check-in time. I do not understand why they misread our intention to welcome them and get them settled as quickly as possible. Our check-in generally takes about 10 minutes (we point out the guest beverage center, where & when breakfast is served, the free Film Library, and answer any questions guests may have so they feel comfortable using all the Lodge facilities). If the reviewer needed to get to his room immediately, they had only to ask us. Due to fire & insurance regulations, irons are not permitted in the guest rooms and we have a very nice built-in iron boarding & Rowenta iron for guests' use in a well-lit laundry room. We apologize that these guests were offended somehow by the 10-year-old son of the owners as most guests have found him a very sweet and polite kid. It seems the main issue here is that the reviewer did not like hearing other guests in the B&B. The couple in the downstairs suite were NOT friends of the proprietors -- they were other paying guests on their honeymoon. When the reviewer called the owner from the house phone to complain, the owner politely asked if the reviewer would be comfortable saying something to the other guests. When the reviewer answered "not really," the owner said "No problem, I'll be right there" and he immediately got out of bed and came down to ask the honeymooners to be more courteous about noise levels. The owner also went to the reviewer's room to reassure him that he had just spoken with the downstairs guests. He also explained that this was the first time this had been an issue in NINE years of operation and the honeymooners had apologized as they did not realize they were being so loud. As innkeepers, we try to please everyone and that is never easy. In this case, the owner walked a fine line between offending the honeymoon couple and keeping the reviewer happy. The inn was full that night or we would have gladly moved these guests immediately as our primary concern is always guest comfort, enjoyment and satisfaction. The reviewer omits the fact that we did offer a partial refund. The reviewer had the option to leave, but chose to stay the 2nd night and then never said anything to me that he was still unhappy. I apologize to these guests as I believed we had resolved the matter to their satisfaction when they were here. If that was not the case, it was the reviewer's responsibility to contact me personally immediately following their departure in June 2008.

We enjoyed the Lost Mountain Lodge immensely. The setting is quiet .The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a nice outdoor jacuzzi bath on a deck. The bathrooms are clean and of excellent quality. The owners and help have a first rate service orientation. They prepare great breakfasts
of gourmet quality. I believe some of the recipees have been featured in cook books. There was an obvious love of cooking and sharing that love. The rooms were cleaned with attention to detail.
The owners suggested great restaurants for us to visit in the Sequim area. The also turned us on to other local sights and people. It is nice that the property is near town but off the busy highway. It is located in a very pleasant and soothing area. We have high accolades for the property, owners and staff and would certainly return if visiting the Sequim area.

Lost Mountain Lodge is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed. The setting at the base of the mountains is stunning, and the grounds on which the home is located are lush and expansive. The room was large, luxurious and private. Loved the fireplace. The breakfasts were delicious. It seemed that our every need had been anticipated and met before we needed to ask. There is so much to do in this area - hiking, fishing, beachcombing, ferries to the islands, golf - the list goes on. Wonderful to return to this beautiful home after an active day.

When we were planning our trip to Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula area, we had hoped to find a spot that would be both relaxing and romantic – and we found just that perfect spot at the Lost Mountain Lodge! We were welcomed with a beautiful tray of wine and cheese, and while we settled into our gorgeous room, our hosts made dinner reservations for us at one of their recommended spots, which was truly amazing! Upon our return, we found that a tasty treat had been set out for us by our bedside. We spent the next day hiking in the Olympics and were so thankful to have the wonderful hot tub to sooth our tired muscles! Breakfast was fantastic both mornings we were lucky enough to enjoy it, and the staff was professional, welcoming and wonderful! We cannot wait to return!

"Lost Mountain Lodge" was outstanding. I think of it as "almost spa", because the atmosphere, decorating, food, bath + bedding all had a healthy nature loving feel.We have stayed in many B&B's and consider this one upscale and very comfortable. The hot-tub was a treat. The staff was thoughtful and sensative to our needs, including great recommendations for restaurants and activities.
