“Beautiful water view, rustic vintage charm”
Reviewed April 9, 2011

This is a place I've returned to again and again, often on Valentine's weekend -- it's really one of my favorite getaways in Washington state. While there are different houses and cottages to choose from, each with its own decor and view of Sequim Bay, we always pick the Boathouse...a spacious 1930s waterfront boathouse converted into a two-bedroom-plus-giant-living-room-and-kitchen cottage.

It's decorated with funky antiques, and wide windows show water, water, water, everywhere....including underneath your feet at high tide, since the Boathouse is built on pilings in the bay itself. It can sleep a big family or group of friends, since there are bunkbeds in one bedroom room, a big bed in the other bedroom, and lots of couches. The woodburning stove is very cozy with a glass of champagne, and so is the deck. THEY TAKE DOGS in the Boathouse and the other cottage on the beach! It's very private, and very beautiful. If you like something fancier, pick one of the other homes up the hill in the same complex. The owners are very cool and appreciate the business. There's a great lavender festival nearby once a year, too. GO!

We never met the owners to thank them for the enjoyable stay but we wish we could have. We stayed in the Osprey Nest with another couple and found it delightful. We were able to totally relax. A few books and magazines were available to read. The decor was cool and comfortable. The kitchen was totally stocked with pots, pans glasses, plates, flat wear, Really everything but the food. It was clean fresh. There were even binoculars for our use!
The setting is quaint and funky. Will definitely stay there again if we get the chance.

We stayed in the largest cabin (Ospreys Nest) so that explains the price. But it is clean, free wifi, lounge chairs, fish, and other random goodies! Great view and proximity to Sequim Bay. New owners are very involved and responsive. Very reclusive, quiet, and serene area.

We just returned from our 3rd visit to SMR and the experiences only get better. This time my husband and I brought two of our really good friends along (and our respective dogs). We stayed in the Osprey's nest which has more than enough room for 2 couples. As always the accommodations are very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for any type of cooking and/or grilling. We had a blast sitting on the deck admiring the absolute beauty of the bay and gorgeous natural landscape.

In a nutshell, this property is special. Every time we arrive, we immediately feel the rest of the world melt away. There are no tvs or phones here which help add to the serenity of the experience. And the owners, Tracie and Lavon, could not be more accommodating. (Thank you for bringing us the hummingbird feeder, fire pit and extra wood). Lavon, we really appreciate the opportunity to get you know you better and thank you for all the wonderful stories about the property and Sequim in general.

This time we had the opportunity to tour all the other cabins on the property to scope out our next adventure. Our friends are hooked too - we'll all be back!

I stayed in the Boat House with my family this year for our annual beach trip. This resort was by far the most unique place we've tried. The Boat House was very clean when we got there, and was so thoughtfully furnished and equipped. It has a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. The kitchen was very well equipped, better than other similar style resorts we've stayed at.

The resort's managers were very accomodating and friendly, as were the other guests. There was an overall feeling of friendship and fun amongst everyone we encountered.

We spent the majority of our time out on the amazing beach, and relaxing by the firepit right outside our door. The beach here is so alive. We really enjoyed exploring and discovering all the critters when the tide was out, and watching the crabs, seals, and fish swim around when the tide was up.

This is a fantastic place. I would recommend it to others and definately look forward to visiting again. It was great!

Thanks for the great review, and thanks for the opportunity to take a break from chores and look for nifty critters on the beach with the kids!

Yes, it has a nice view and is on the water but we feel it is very overpriced for the accomdations. Don't fool yourself they are cabins that are spartin, nothing special or fancy. I have never paid that much to rent a cabin that the windows had gaps between the frames and window, old well used towels, maybe it's best to say no frills that is overpriced! We felt it wasn't a place that had a nice chair where you could build a fire and sit and relax and read a book. I was looking for a hidden gem.

We are very sorry to hear that "whatever1000" was disappointed in the Boat House. You cannot be closer to the water in this cabin. In fact, it sits on pilings right over the water, and with a queen size memory foam mattress in the bedroom, 2 couches and several chairs in the living room and a glider on the deck with large pillows....we strive to create a comfortable experience. Upon closer inspection, "whatever1000" might have seen that the very large wooden window looking out to the water actually slides open. The cabin is stocked with everything you would need to entertain a group of 6 people. Unfortunately, the indifference implied with the name "whatever1000" may making finding a gem quite difficult.

It was a nice last minute getaway. My husband and I had a relaxing time here. There were dishes, pots, pans etc., lots of blankets, plenty of towels, and firewood (for a price). We only had a few things that inconvenienced us....like the bathroom power constantly tripping, no blinds or curtains on some windows (so we were up and at 'em early every morning), and the parking was up the hill from our cabin, so ....we had to walk a ways (this made it a little more difficult to unpack and pack the car. It was a cute place and we hope to return someday.

Thanks for the feedback. We do have curtains on most windows, however with three skylights there is still bound to be plenty of light when morning comes. Because this cabin is perched on a hillside, parking is located just slightly above by 30 steps. Guests are welcome to unload and load right at the cabin as this guest's husband did. The breaker popped and we responded within 2 minutes. It has never popped since.
