Red Caboose Getaway
Ranked #5 of 10 Sequim B&B and Inns

Was a little concerned that the gimmick would interfere with comfort, but that was definitely not the case. We stayed in the Western, and the attention to detail for comfort was amazing. Also attention to detail in keeping the theme was impressive, down to even the western-themed DVD's next to the TV.

Since these are actual old cabooses, the steps into them are a bit hard on old knees, and the shower/bathtub is an old deep claw-footed bathtub. For some, these might be drawbacks.

The 5 course breakfast served (naturally) in the dining car was delicious and the dining car ambience was charming.

My wife and I stayed in the Orient Express after a day in Sequim. What fun! This is one of the most unique B&Bs I've ever stayed at, and the hosts are fabulous! The caboose is surprisingly roomy, with a very comfortable bed and even a large jetted, soaker tub. There is a lot of attention paid to decor - they even had a copy of "Murder on the Orient Express" that we watched. We arrived a little late, but the check in was quick and they even called to make a dinner reservation for us. The only thing I missed was a shower, but it was well worth it for one night and we enjoyed the tub instead. Breakfast was served in a 1937 dining car on china/silver service. The coffee is fresh and aromatic, and was followed by juice, a fresh baked cinnamon roll, french toast and chocolate mint. Loved our stay!

Loved the novelty of staying in a caboose from yesteryear. We stayed in the Casey Jones caboose. Nothing luxurious but totally authentic. With original lighting and creaky wood floor one could get a sense of what life was like in the caboose. Separate toilet area from the rest of the bathroom (shower, no bathtub). Everything in room was railroad related down to the DVDs that were all railroad related. We enjoyed watching a movie dated back to 1972.

Breakfast was served in the dining car on crisp linens with gorgeous china. On the table we were greeted with a menu and our hosts went out of their way to accommodate my vegan diet. Not all was vegan as I did taste butter in some of my food. All in all they did a super job. Everything was gourmet presented and tasted excellent.

Quiet and peaceful yet a stones throw from downtown and HWY 101. All that was missing was the clickety clack sound as one gets when traveling on a railroad.

We stayed in the Circus car; it was nicely decorated with the circus theme. It was fun to sit in the cupola. The whirlpool bathtub was huge and very comfortable. Olaf was a great host and he made you feel welcome. His wife Charlotte is the gourmet breakfast cook, and everyone gave her a round of applause. The grounds were very nice with the duck pond. A wonderful place.

Spent the night in the Casey Jones caboose in April. First time even in a caboose and very unique and different B & B experience. Cozy and comfortable bed. Bathroom with a lighted shower head that we had never seen before. Olaf recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner which was only topped the next morning in the dining car when we were served the best breakfast of our trip!

My husband and I took my brother (a train buff) and his wife to Red Caboose Getaway. They had the Grape Escape. What a spacious room (for a caboose!) with a great soaking tub. Each caboose has incredible attention to detail. Somehow Olaf has found a way to truly follow the theme of each caboose without seeming too try to hard!
Breakfast, served in an original dining car was not only elegant but unique and delicious. Take the time to snap a picture of the dining car. Such luxury...it is like stepping back in time.
The grounds include a protected pond with ducks, geese and birds. A nice added touch!
I included pictures of the breakfast and dining car. You can see plenty of great pictures of the rooms on his website.

Room Tip: Check out each theme and choose your favorite. I loved The Grape Escape.
