“Best B&B Experience Ever”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

The Dungeness Barnhouse B&B is the best experience I have ever had at a bed and breakfast. Berta is a personable and wonderful host. The views from the upstairs lounge are spectacular, highlighted by a family of deer in the yard at dusk and dawn and beautiful gardens surrounding the facility. The beds are comfortable and I had very restful sleep after jam-packed days of event preparation. Berta's breakfasts of fresh eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast with homemade lavendar/berry jam, fruit, cereal, yogurt and other organic goodies were both delicious and healthy. I highly recommend the Barnhouse to anyone traveling on the Washington State peninsula. DH

We stayed four nights with Berta and enjoyed her wonderful home, her delicious breakfasts and warm hospitality. She is a natural host, gracious and welcoming. The Barn House itself is beautiful - there are only two suites (one on ground floor level and one upstairs) so you have lots of privacy. Guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the Great Room - it's like a club lounge, complete with bar! There is a guest fridge so you can chill your own wine or beer. There is a coffee maker and Berta makes sure there is fresh milk in the fridge. The view of the bay is amazing.

Our room was the Victorian Garden suite, located off the Great Room, with a little ante room for added privacy. We had lovely views of the Olympic mountains, surrounding fields and the garden. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. Berta has thought of everything to make sure you are comfortable. Berta has created a lovely atmosphere are you just feel right at home and so relaxed. It was a privilege to share her home as her guests.

You are welcome to bring back take-out if you wish - we did that one night and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. The property also enjoys a private stretch of beach on Dungeness Bay; there are steps down to a small deck where you can watch the sun set or rise. Marine Drive is a lovely morning or evening walk - you will spot bald eagles! Berta's garden is beautiful - if the weather is fine, you will enjoy breakfast outside. We enjoyed watching the two chicks in the little hummingbird nest in the tree outside our window. Breakfast is plentiful and sociable - we love meeting new people this way and comparing stories and travel experiences.

Sequim itself is a lovely wee town - about a 15 min drive from the B&B. The outdoor market is great, as was the Alderwood Bistro, Rainshadow Coffee and the Sunshine Cafe. Make a point of visiting a lavender farm too - there are lots to choose from! The John Wayne Marina was a nice place to park up and enjoy the view as was the Marlyn Nelson Park and beach. The Dungeness Wildlife Refuge and the Railroad Park are also definitely worth a visit too.

As the Barn House enters its next evolution under new owners Claire and Sue, I wish them, and Berta, all the very best. Keep making the lavender shortbread, Claire!

The Dungeness Barn House Bed and Breakfast is as beautiful as the pictures on its website. Its surrounding area and that of Sequim as well as the National Park makes it a great location to stay and vacation.
We stayed 8 nights and enjoyed ourselves the entire time. Our host, Berta was gracious, funny and very accomodating. Plus she is a wonderful cook (breakfast is amazing!!) and gardener. She also is a great resource for things to explore, great places to eat. This B& B is prides itself in using locally grown food and is very connected to the community. The B&B is very comfortable--bedroom, bath and great room as well as the yard.
It is best suited for adults who are interested in the Washington coast and/or a visit to Victoria BC.
Our stay was better than we could have imagined.

Room Tip: The B&B has two rooms. One is on the second floor with a queen bed, the first floor has a king b...

Beautiful and enchanting! This charming property was magical. We were able to relax, and renew, our spirits. The antiques, dishes, views and hospitality were uncompared to anything I have ever experienced. Berta and Claire were the perfect hostesses and their breakfasts were any "foodie's" dream come true...amazing in taste and presentation. I wanted more time at this lovely property and look forward to returning in the future. Highly recommended...in my opinion this B&B beats any 5 star hotel. Enjoy!

The Dungeness Barn House B&B was so charming. We had such a wonderful time. The views were spectacular. We enjoyed the beautiful roses, gardens and watching the baby hummingbirds. The breakfasts that Berta cooked were so delicious. (Claire's lavender cookies were very good too) It was a pleasure to spend time with Berta at the barn.

The fireworks were so fun to watch too.

Comfort, beauty, privacy, fantastic food, gracious hostesses, wonderful conversation, interesting surroundings and on and on. The Dungeness Barn House experience renewed our spirits and warmed our souls. My husband, Jim and I so enjoyed our stay, we were saddened when our day to leave arrived. A walk in the amazing rose garden lifted one to tiptoes with the fragrance of blending such a variety of color, texture, and varied blooms. We were welcomed each morning by the purple, pinks and reds of sunrise right out our bedroom window reflected in the ocean waters and tucked in each evening with the glow of the sparkling diamonds reflected on the water at sunset. We cherished our time on the private beach watching the wildlife of the Strait in their natural habitat allowing us to join in. From now on, The Barn House will be our home away from home. Thank you, Berta and Claire for giving us all we could have ever hoped for!
Lovingly,
Jim and Sharla Lind
