One of the best walks I have ever been on. The views of the Olympic Mtns framed by the Straight of Juan De Fuca . .I don't think you could find a better spot on earth . .might be able to tie it, but not beat it. Great sunrise or sunset walk . .early morning sunrise walk . .or late afternoon sunset walk. Big Sky surrounds you, white noise of the surf, the seagulls showing off the flying skills, the very unique driftwood . .it's as long as you want . .but goooooo . .only got an hour . . Fine . .go. . . Got 6 hours to make it to the light house and back . .go . . Not so much about the animals you may or may not see . .hard to describe . .it's a must to do . .a little or a lot . .go!

A memorable hike to a quaint lighthouse located at the end of a 5 1/2 mile walk over pathless sand and loose beach pebbles. If you watch the tide and hit it at low ebb, the walk is easier and mostly on compact wet sand. But regardless, the hike is about as flat as it comes except for the 200 foot elevation from the parking lot to the saltwater. You will most likely get your feet wet somewhere along the way, so waterproof footwear is nice but not a must depending on the season. I would suggest bringing an extra pair of socks, sun protection, a light weight windproof jacket and plenty of water.
Be warned that it's not a walk in the park. This is a 4-5 hour hike round trip and there are no restroom facilities or water until you reach the lighthouse. No bushes to sneak behind. It's an open wind blown sand spit and after five miles of loose sand and pebbles, unconditioned ankles will start to feel it. No place for small children in my opinion unless you're up to carrying them back. But the reward is worth it. Gracious hosts at the lighthouse and a nice area with a manicured green lawn and benches to enjoy that well earned lunch before contemplating the walk back. With the sun shining on the sparkling waters and the sea birds swirling above you- a wonderful experience well worth a little sand in your shoes.

Well set up, well maintained, natural beauty. Wonderful path through forest down to ocean. Access to lighthouse if you are able to walk that far! But beware - no bathrooms once you are down on the spit!

this is a state park and National park, it offers overnight camping and picnic areas, 1 mile walk down to the beach, fee for access, they do accept some passes and duck stamps, 7 + mile walk to lighthouse, be sure to check tides if you want to walk that far. Great place to view marine and bird life
