The exterior of the Sequim Econolodge certainly looks pleasant enough. A small but efficient parking lot and a covered entry portico. The first hint of trouble is the neglected and overgrown 'mini-golf' course on the East side of the building. It's been many years since anyone has played a round there. The plumbing business storage lot of old cars behind the building is no bargain either. At the reception desk, staff members are generally friendly and check-in is efficient. A quick glance at the decor tells you that this hotel is dated. Maybe not a 1977 time capsule, but pretty darn close. The building lacks an automatic fire sprinkler system and construction quality is sub-par with room walls offering about the same amount of soundproofing as two layers of kleenex. Rooms are spartan and appear very worn out. Threadbare sheets, sagging groaning mattresses, and cheap furniture are the norm. Stains abound; from stained floors, stained furniture, stained lamp shades, to stained walls, there seems to be no stain that houskeeping hasn't ignored. The Sequim Econolodge certainly puts the "Eco" in Econolodge as there are all manner of molds and spores growing on the bathroom walls and in the caulikng around any wet fixtures. The toilet cycled all night long, and only the cheapest battery operated ionization smoke detectors equip each room. None seem to match. As they fail, and if a guest complains, someone probably eventually runs to the True Value and lays out $6 for a new detector. This hotel appears to spend as little as humanly possible for maintenance and upkeep. The staff is friendly and nice but make no mistake, this is a low rent facility, and there are much better values for the money. If you don't find it in Sequim...keep driving. However if you are a local and you have undesirable out of town guests coming, nothing says "Stay the Hell Away From Us!!" like a directed stay at the Sequim Econolodge.

This is an older hotel, in need of refurbishing. However, in spite of being rather "tired" looking, it was a great choice. We stayed one night so we could explore the area, the staff was great, the bed was great, it was clean and quite quiet. Good value for the money.

The room was what I would expect from a one star hotel.

The walls were thin--we could hear the mattress springs squeaking and people talking in the room next door.

The bathroom was dirty. There was extensive mildew along the caulking of the shower. There was more mildew on the bathroom walls. The shower floor was brown, so I wore flip flops when I took a shower.

The bed was fine, and there was a little sofa in the room.

The people at the front desk were friendly, and the cold breakfast was adequate.

My pre-trip internet research showed a lot of lodging choices in Sequim, and I chose the Econo Lodge for its location and price. Great choice! Warm, friendly staff with lots of helpful ideas for tourists. The room was large, very clean, and quite comfortable, nicely air conditioned in August, and very quiet. Two-story building with no elevator, so I got my stair practice. My room was facing the street (rather than rural fields in the back) and I never heard a bit of traffic.

This motel is located just a few blocks away from the center of town, so everything from supermarkets and superdrugstores to gas stations and restaurants is within a few minutes’ driving distance. It’s even close to Sequim Bay State Park, a lovely oasis of forests and waterside.

This motel is a wonderful example of Sequim’s graciousness.

Econolodge is "economy" the rooms were good, the staff was barely friendly, not rude, but just sort of vacant. the place was clean, but we did not get a good night's sleep because the sheets were ill fitting and kept coming off! We woke up to bare mattresses in both beds in the room. All in all, it was o.k., but we paid over $100 for a family room and it just didn't seem to be worth that much....

breakfast was adequate. Again, nothing to write home about but O.K.
The location was quiet enough.
