Great milkshakes, it's a great ice cream joint complete w/ a jukebox. Don't worry they also sell burgers & fries plus sodas.

Hal's Drive in is like taking a step back in time. If you are looking for a tasty burger like you had when you were in High School, this is the place to come. The wait staff are almost all High School students which has been sort of a mainstay for the family owned Hal's Drive In. Many a student has flipped a burger or deep fried some french fries for the many customers that come for a treat. Not to mention they have the most incredible tarter sauce you have ever tasted. It's homemade and I'm told the recipe is a "secret". The ice cream cones are REAL ice cream and you can get it soft or scooped up hard. The menu has quite a variety of items but my favorite is the cheeseburger basket. I suppose if you are used to the McDonald's or Burger King type fair you may be disappointed that napkins are a necessity as your burger juices head down your arm. It's a little tucked out of the way place now off of Highway 20. Before Highway 20 was opened in 1972 you could drive right past Hal's on your way through Sedro-Woolley never passing up your opportunity to grab a snack of some sort. So, if you are ever in Western Washington try to make it a point to visit Hal's for a treat.

If you like a burger in a 1950s drive-in/diner, this is the place. Great food, fast and friendly service, what more could you want?

Hals Drive Inn, in Sedro Woolley, WA, is definitely number # 1 in my and my family's place to go for lunch or dinner anytime of year. There is such nostalgic history there, with all of their vintage collectibles on display. old colored glass pop bottles, metal advertising signs, jukebox, bright turquoise and black leatherette booths, definitely a 1959'r style, and it takes me right back to high school. The food has a uniquely different taste that no other restaurant can provide. I have tried so many other drive inns, but nothing can compare to the big fat jumbo cheese deluxe burgers on sesame seed buns. All of my friends, their friends, their kids and grandkids have worked there throughout their lives making extra money and going to the high school.
So help me, f they ever close this place or try to replace it, I will just croak from longing for their excellent tasty food.
