Top (TOP!) quality all the way. From the furnishings to the friendly folks working there to exquisite dining (great wine list...world class), lovely setting....Everything tasteful, comfortable and guest-centered. I want to come back.....for a vacation next time.

my husband and I stayed just stayed at the Inn in a suite for our first anniversary....the room was $200 a night!!....the room wasn't worth that cost. The bed was not comfortable....the Victorian furniture wasn't either....the shower curtain surrounding the claw foot tub was a nightmare...right outta Psycho..room was not the cleanest ...opened a big cabinet and found an old boom box with a broken CD player (which is what we wanted)...and behind it was an old empty bottle of wine rollin around. The gardens are run down and unkempt which is a shame...the lobby junked up with the owners ugly pottery and mismatched junky furniture. The pub food was good but dinner was a joke....the owner was waiting tables..a very nice man...but his kitchen staff really fell down....we ordered an overpriced appetizer and had to wait a half hour or more and mind you this is a small place!! he apologized but at the same time didnt offer anything else except a bottle of wine we bought...no bread or salads on the house kinda thing...and then when dinner finally came my husbands Fettuchini dish was soooo salty it was inedible! so quality control was off! it had to go back. My duck was rubber! it was total $120 the owner NEVER compd a thing! and well he should have. He was too interested in selling his ugly pottery to the half drunk couple next to us! Dont waste your money...eat lunch have a beer and stay elsewhere..its just not what it used to be and the value is not there.

Room Tip: if you stay get the least expensive room....The Inn is on a main street with the only grocery store...

Do you want to have a birthday of a lifetime? Come to the Shelburne Inn. Innkeepers David Campiche and Laurie Anderson make the historic Shelburne Inn a dream come true. My wife and I spent my 60th birthday weekend with the inn keepers and their guests: .the room, classic; the food, incomparable including wild mushrooms foraged by David and other delights of the earth including fresh greens and sea beans, breads by Laurie, the staff were friendly, attentive, polite, helpful, and so much more including two 1985 bottles of Pinot Noir from David's private collection...breakfast is heaven to wake to including David's special of the day, like scrambled eggs with wild foraged mushrooms and water cress...the ambiance is quite eclectic and the inn quite historic...comfortable, peaceful, quiet, happy, personable...rooms and public spaces filled with interesting gift ideas and incredible pottery from the innkeeper's pottery wheel. This is an inn in the historic sense with space to find your own space or have fun exchanging your adventures with the other travelers in the inn. Our visit was visit was truly memorable. Thank you David and Laurie... Michael and Judi Hoffman

Room Tip: We like room 17 down stairs since the bedroom is separate from the sitting room and it looks out ont...

We stayed in the area but went to the Shelburne Restaurant and pub 3 times. The food and drink were truly exceptional. The service was dazzling and a true "historical Inn" experience. My highest recommendation.

Wonderful place to stay, rooms are all unique and quaint. The food is great and people are very friendly. The pub is a great place to have something to drink and some great food. Very cozy. The rooms can be small-ish but it is worth it. The inn is right next to a main road and it can be noisy at times, but generally is quiet at night, depending on the time of year also (tourist season on/off)
Would definitely go again one day.

The staff - all were very pleasant and helpful - no complaints there.
The decor - quite interesting old building and furnishings throughout.
The room - Room 8, facing the street is quite small, as I believe most are, with too much antique furniture dominating the room. No drawer space at all, with a large armoire to hang things only. Bathroom was clean and a nice shower. Hot at night, in mid July, and only one small window, which didn't help at all. Noise from the supermarket across the street (some moron throwing steel pipes on the ground to erect a fruit stand) woke me at 5:20 am! Avoid a room on the street side. The bed is very high, but was comfortable. Disabled, or less than nimble seniors, may not be pleased.
The dining room and pub - Menu items in the dining room are a bit expensive, but very well presented by a talented chef. I had the rib eye steak, which was very filling and tasty. Portions were smaller on the other dishes chosen by companions. Very few vegetables offered, a continual concern when eating anywhere "on the road". The included breakfast, anything on the breakfast menu, was substantial and good. The pub is smallish, but cozy and offers pub fare, or the dining room menu. The fish and chips were very good, with delicately battered Alaskan cod and sliced potato fries. There's also an outdoor patio off the pub.
Parking - on the street, so if you are a motorcyclist, that can be a concern. There is a small parking area at the north side of the Inn, by the kitchen, that is on the side street and is better for bike parking, but it is on a first come/first served basis, for cars or bikes to park there. Our two bikes did manage to find space there.
Sightseeing/shopping - If you don't mind walking, you can enjoy a 6 mile jaunt from one end of the paved beach walkway to the other, or rent bicycles a couple of blocks north of the Inn. We cycled the entire beach route, very pleasant, and the north end puts you near to the business strip of Long Beach, to check out the huge number of shops and eateries there. Other than the grocery store across from the Inn, there is very little there to satisfy shop browsers.
Value for money - B&B's generally charge more for accommodations than motels, but I think the rooms are less than good value for their size, no TV, no A/C.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the street side. I've given an overall average rating, but it really was bare...

Beautiful ambience and I even got to play the grand piano.

The inn had a handicapped parking space but evidently we didn't state that we needed special accommodations because our room had many steps up to it and the mattress was so high that when getting up in the night neither of us could touch our feet to the floor when getting out of bed.

One of the chairs in the room had arms that were too close together for our behinds.

Beautiful bedspread and pillow covers.

Appreciated our private outdoor space right outside our room.

Ventilation was an open window and right outside was the main road to Long Beach.
Luckily we were not bothered by traffic noise.

Loved the beverage service in the lobby and the space for playing cards and games.

We didn't eat breakfast until near the end and my breakfast appeared to have sat in a warming oven too long. .The dining room was interesting and well appointed.

.

The greeting staff members were pleasant and accommodating.
