“Relaxing vacation -- very quiet!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

If you would like some peace and quiet -- go to this island. Bring a bike, pack some groceries, plan to do some home cooking while you're there. They do a really nice (though I hear expensive) restaurant called Willows Inn. Even if you don't go there to eat out, you should consider driving by and parking your car there because there's a really convenient spot to go on to the beach (especially if you want to watch the INCREDIBLE sunset off of the island). When we were there in July they had a community chili cook-off -- it was something like 6 or 7 bucks to get in and THERE WAS SO MUCH CHILI AND FOOD!!!!

The people on the island are super friendly and laid back -- you really need to experience this. As a native of the Philadelphia area, it was a wonderful culture shock.

“Relax and unwind”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful and rural. A gem of an island. Not many services but a beautiful place to get away from the city. Short 5 minute ferry ride. Bring your bikes and stay at one of the many waterfront rental houses. We stayed on the east side with outstanding views over mount baker and bellingham city. Excellent day hikes and beach exploring. Wonderful artisan finds.

“Piece and Tranquility”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

Unlike the rest of San Juan Islands, Lummi Island has it's own ferry called Whatcom Chief. The ferry runs at least every hour and will make additional runs when needed. Ferry pricing and schedule:

The views from every point of the island are stunning. On Memorial and Labor Day local artists are opening their studios for an art tour. The most interesting island attraction are it's people. They built a very interesting community. The island has a historical club.
There are fantastical bicycle trails, very nice hike and the time has totally different quality while you are on Lummi island.
