“Very Nice Stay”
Reviewed June 11, 2005

I spent four nights at the Hampton Inn in Richland in May. All in all, it was a very nice stay. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful; the room was more than adequate, as was the bathroom. I can't quite share the same level of enthusiasm of the previous reviewer concerning the breakfast. Yes, it's free and the selection is good; but I can't get excited about powdered scrambled eggs and the breakfast meats were IMO not good. Also, in regards to a river-side room: I requested one but upon check-in found out that they aren't discounted, which would have left me paying about $15/night out of pocket (I was there on biz using the fed gov per diem rate). Although I thought about going for it, I'm glad I didn't as the Columbia river at that point, is not too exciting. Plus, the walking path along the river offered more than enough in the way of scenery. One final note: If you need to use the internet, bring your own computer. Their business center is nice, but due to some real jerks who visited every porn site on the web, their computers were never reliably functional for the entire time I was there. Anyone looking for an excellent seafood restaurant should inquire about Anthony's - it's almost walking distance from the hotel and the food is outstanding.

On our way to Libby, Montana, we booked a room in Richland, WA at the Hampton Inn because we've always had excellent experiences with this hotel chain. This is the best one yet! The Inn sits on the waterfront of the Columbia river and the breakfast room takes full advantage of the river view. By the way, the breakfast buffet is huge (and free!!) and offers a wide variety of hot and cold items. (They vary the hot items: belgian waffles, eggs, sausages, and hot gravy and biscuits, among others. Cold items include fresh fruit, yogurt, several cereals, doughnuts and muffins.)

If you book a room, we highly recommend a river view room. It is worth the extra $10. The second and third floors have their own mini balconies with table and chairs overlooking the incredible river. (The bottom floors do not have them for safety reasons, but they do have a large outdoor seating area right off the breakfast room) There is a beautiful city park right next door that also has a free kiddie wading pool as well as a nice long river walk to have a relaxing evening stroll with your "special someone."

The beds were fairly comfortable and the accomodations were great. Nice large indoor swimming pool, laundry room and exercise room. Coffee and large soft cookies are always available in the lobby free for guests as well.
The staff was extremely courteous and bent over backwards to help us out. Recently I had wrist surgery and they kindly put my ice pack in their freezer for me overnight, which was so helpful.

This is a great place for families and easy to find right off the freeway. For eating, we highly recommend the ribs at Sterlings, a reasonably-priced restaurant close by and within walking distance. (Just follow the river walk to the boat dock and turn left up Newton street to find it.) Hope this helps! You'll love it! :)

From the warm efficient greeting at reception to our reluctant departure, the staff went out of their way to help. Simply the best Hampton we have come across.

A really nice hotel. I highly recommend a stay here. Had a room that overlooked the Columbia River. Friendly front desk staff, very clean room. Continental breakfast was excellent. I will be back.

Location ... location ... location! This hotel is situated right on the Columbia River, so be sure to request a riverfront room. Plenty of walking paths so bring some walking shoes or roller-blades; or rent a bike. The room was very clean and well-kept. Morning breakfast was nice, also. I had dinner from Domino's pizza, but considered going to the nearby Applebee's. The hotel is a couple of blocks off of the freeway. I highly recommend it!
