For those who left unfavorable reviews of this hotel....we have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about! My wife and I have stayed in hotels many other places comparable to this one in price, and have NEVER had such a good experience. The staff were bend-over-backward helpful....they took us back and forth from the airport on-demand, very kindly and graciously helped us with things like printing bus info for us, answering questions, and changing a twenty for small change for bus fare. The room was spotless and the bed, pillows, TV, and bathroom were nicer than many hotels of this price range. The breakfast was better, too...waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, coffee, bagels, toast, cereal and milk. Everything has been clean, smooth, helpful, and delightful! Not sure how to post anything disappointing at all! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

The hotel was a great value inasmuch as we got a really cheap pre-pay rate. The hotel facilities themselves were average for a limited service hotel, but they really went above and beyond to provide excellent service.

Facilities were on par with a 2-star hotel, perfectly acceptable but not upscale. The room had everything we need - good bed, extremely clean, new flat panel TV, etc. Our friends had a room down the hall that was much smaller, so it appears that rooms very in size quite a bit. Breakfast was good - I wasn't wowed but it was free and had eggs, waffles and sausage. The fitness center looked pretty good; the hotel does not have a pool or whirlpool.

As for the service - they checked us into our room 5 hours early and definitely made every effort to make us feel welcome even though there were many people checking in when we arrived. Everyone we spoke to at the front desk was courteous.

One last thing to be aware of is that the location is probably great for business, but may be a little far from the "action" if you are here on vacation. We were in town for a wedding and while the hotel is convenient to the airport and downtown Seattle, there is just about nothing nearby (fast food restaurants, a harley dealer, lots of industrial buildings and a sketchy nightclub).

Overall - I think we got our money's worth but I might shop around next time unless I specifically needed to be in Renton.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the north side...I think they are larger (ours was)

The Clarion Renton is a convenient and reasonably priced property with an excellent location for SeaTac. But having stayed in a _lot_ of hotels around SeaTac, I think that other reviews might be a bit overly generous when you compare this property to its neighbors. This is a solidly 2.5-star hotel - details below, read on for more:

LOCATION:
The Clarion is located just off Route 176, convenient to both I-405 and I-5. The hotel is less than 15 minutes from SeaTac Airport, and about 25 minutes (depending on traffic) from downtown Seattle. The hotel is located right next door to a steakhouse, and across the street from a cinema complex. There are ample restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, from the steakhouse and a couple of Asian restaurants, to a sports bar and several fast food outlets.

PROPERTY:
The hotel is laid out on 4 floors, and as other reviewers have mentioned, the upper floors offer a quieter stay. The hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle to SeaTac airport. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered on the first floor each morning, along with free coffee all day. Wireless Internet is available in all rooms. For business travelers who need a meeting space, a "board room" style conference room is available. There is a fitness center, and a coin-op laundry room. The property itself is fairly spartan, with vending machines showing aging contents on each floor, worn carpeting and an overall feel of age.

ROOMS:
The rooms are what make this a sub-3 star property. While everything was cleaned, the rooms are clearly showing some age, with stains on the upholstery of the chairs, and the carpet, and the standard "musty" smell that often exists in some hotels. The AC worked to cool the room down quickly, but lacked any kind of fine-tune control, so the room was consistently either too warm, or freezing cold. The bed was actually pretty comfortable, but the provided pillows were wafer-thin, such that even piling them two together made for mediocre comfort. The bathroom holds the toilet and bath/shower, but the sink is outside the bathroom in the room itself. Water pressure in the sink is actually miserable - terrible flow from the sink, such that it took quite a long time to even fill the provided plastic cup for brushing teeth. The shower pressure was a bit better than the sink, but the adjustable "massage" head was aged and didn't make for an excellent shower. The toilet seat was clean, but cracked and missing enamel, showing the black underlayer. In short the room offered a cheap place to spend the night, but the $10-$20 nightly rate reduction from area Fairfield- or Hampton-brand hotels probably isn't worth the Clarion's significant reduction in overall quality and comfort from those properties.

STAFF:
The front desk staff was quite pleasant and responsive, and handled both check-in and -out with efficiency. They got us into our room quickly upon arrival, and the express check-out bill was waiting under the door in the morning, and was accurate.

Overall, the best thing I can say for the Clarion is that it was inexpensive. While I'd stay there again if other nearby hotels were fully booked, other major-chain hotels around SeaTac offer a significant improvement on modern furniture, overall cleanliness and comfort at only a minor price increase. This property would be excellent for families with children on a budget, but business or frequent travelers will probably be disappointed compared to other options in the area.

The Clarion in Renton was the first hotel we stayed at during our holiday in the USA. It is located 7 miles from SeaTac Airport and is adjacent to Highway 167.

The hotel runs a complimentary shuttle service from Seatac. They run it as and when required from the airport to the hotel and on the hour from the hotel to the airport. Journey time (depending upon traffic) is 15 minutes.

It's proximity to Highway 167 makes it easy to explore the area by car.

They provide the use of a free computer with internet access in the lobby area of the reception and provide complimentary coffee (and sometimes cookies !) 24 hours per day.

Much of the hotel has recently been refurbished and we were told the bedrooms had recently been decorated and had had new beds.

Our stay was on the third floor and there was some residual overnight noise from the busy road but not enough to disturb us.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we cancelled the hotel we were due to stay in (also close to SeaTac) a week later and rebooked the Clarion for two more nights.

Unfortunately, the second time we were allocated a room right next to reception and the room suffered from noise in the corridor outside and also from the room upstairs. They ask you at check-in if you have a floor preference. I would choose the third floor - of asked again.

A complimentary hot breakfast is served from 6am and consists of Porridge, sausage, scrambled egg, waffles, toast, muffins, cereals, juice and bagels.

A previous reviewer mentioned the poor staff, we could not fault any of them and they all helped to make our stay in the area so much better.

There are two Clarion hotels near Seatac - make sure you pick the one in Renton.

Rooms are small and it was noisy on ground floor. Beds are comfy, breakfast was fine, and not much to be unhappy about. Good for the price and especially for the location as most things are expensive in that area. Front desk staff was not totally on the ball, but sometimes most people aren't. Give this hotel a try--a nice basic place to stay without dropping alot of money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 3rd level.
