Matador has a nice ambiance, friendly service, great appetizers and good tasting drinks, but we were all disappointed that none of the drinks are discounted for happy hour. Most drinks were about $8 (e.g. margaritas, sangrias & mojitos). The appetizers are priced well though - a huge pile of nachos for $5. The fish tacos and garlic prawns were also very yummy and priced to sell. We were a bit surprised that our bill came on one check and an automatic gratuity of 18% was added to it for our party of 6. We had all come at different times and ordered separately, so it was a bit of a hassle to split the check and we had never experienced this policy in a bar before.

The happy hour at Matador overall is great, except it's one of those weird happy hours that doesn't have any drink specials (?). It seems more and more places are doing this, which is contrary to the idea of a "happy" hour in my mind. But, at least at the Matador the happy hour food deals are some of the best you'll find in pricey Redmond. I can't speak to dining in there because I've only done it once and I honestly don't remember much.

A couple downsides is the place is small, so it fills up fast and there's not much parking onsite either (you can always try the street or the Redmond Town Center if you really need a fix).

The ambiance is unique and very fun; it's in a classic brick building and they usually light the place up with candles at night. It's great place to meet up with friends!

I went to Matador for the first time on a Friday evening at 7:00. The restaurant was extremely busy and we had a 30 minute wait. There were quite a few people waiting and the bar was packed so stuck in lobby area. The restaurant appears to be a hopping place with the 25-40 crowd with no children. The server was very helpful with recommendations. We started with Margaritas and peppers stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Margaritas are strong and taste very fresh. The peppers were very good but very spicy so not for everyone. I had the carne which was very tender and falling apart. My friend had the carne enchiladas that were also great. Both were medium spicy so most people can handle. The redmond restaurant location feels more like a Seattle one than redmond which is a break from the family oriented ones you typically find in redmond. If you are looking for a hopping place for an enjoyable change and great food, this is it. If you don't like spicy food, I'd recommend asking the server. Expect to wait for a table during peak times. The only bad thing was that the front door open s into the restaurant so you can definitely feel the cold air blowing into the bar area.

We went on a weeknight during happy hour. Happy hour menu is decent size with good prices. Bar is alway's packed, and difficult to find seating. Carne asada tacos were very good with good flavor. Spicy enchiladas were tasty and extremely hot. Rice and beans with meals were so-so. One thing that was disappointing was that there were no chips and salsa served. This seems to be a mexican restaurant staple, and don't let the decor or ambiance fool you. This is just a mexican restaurant. Service was fair. Drink refills were a little slow. Parking is very limited. Overall, would return for happy hour and when in the mood for a large, loud crowd.

This is a very popular restaurant and bar. Excellent drinks and good food with really excellent service. The menu could use more variety. Again, serving crew is the best.
