“An amazing experience”
Reviewed April 7, 2014

My husband surprised me with a weekend at the Cave B Inn at Sagecliffe the end of March. We stayed in one of their Cliff Houses. The Cliff Houses are very comfortable with a lovely fireplace that splits the bedroom area and the living room space. The bathroom has a big tub and lovely shower. Each Cliff House looks out over the amazing gorge and river in the Quincy Valley. The views are breathtaking! Cave B is a vineyard, winery and hotel. The wines are excellent and are available to purchase in bottles and by the glass at the winery and in the hotel restaurant, Trendrils. Trendrils has excellent food and service and you can enjoy Cave B wines with only a minimal up-charge!! While we were there we enjoyed wine tasting, great food, spa services, walks through the vineyard and hiking down the gorge to the river! The staff throughout the complex from the winery to the spa to the hotel to the restaurant were friendly, welcoming and service focused. In March the vines are still bare and all the rooms were not filled so we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing weekend. My husband and I are looking forward to our return when the vines are full of leaves and grapes, the vineyard is alive with activity and the pool is open for our enjoyment. I did not rate the fitness center because we chose to be outside for exercise instead and I don't remember if they have one.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, stay in the Cliff Houses. Otherwise, during the warmer months the Yort rooms...

My husband and I spent one night at the resort and had an amazing, relaxing time. The estate layout is beautiful, had gorgeous views and it was very peaceful. It is a great place for a romantic getaway and I highly recommend it! We will be returning this summer for another visit.

Our room had a stunning view of the river. The bed was comfortable, pillows and linen were great, clean and plush carpet with tiled bathroom and it was spotless. The heating and A/C unit was a little louder than we would have liked, but that would be the only complaint.

The spa was nice and I had a pinot noir wrap that was incredible. Alyssa was my esthetician and she was really amazing. Tea, water, rain shower, good music, attentive staff, heated towels, nice robes the whole experience was great and worth the money. Only complaint is that sometimes you would hear talking/doors closing while you were in your treatment room. But it was minimal.

We ate at Tendrils for dinner and the food was delicious. Homemade bread, plentiful main course (we had halibut that was cooked to perfection!) and the chocolate soufflé dessert that was also really good. They had a talented guitarist playing live music which was also really lovely (perfect amount of background music). We also had Sunday brunch that was perfectly priced (I saw other comments of it being overpriced which I disagree). There was a wide spread of choices, all of which were really fresh. They had the best smoked salmon, capers and olives! The dining service was top notch.

The manager at the resort was really friendly along with all of the resort staff. The wine tasting was fun and the staff there was great as well. They went above and beyond to take care of us and ensure we were having a great time. The reason I gave a 4/5 for service is because I think the check in/out process could have been a little smoother. I'm not sure if one of the computers was down but it seemed to be a little odd of a process. Also I think there was a lot confusion about the online packages. They were really friendly but something seemed off there!

They had a nice pool but it was closed for the season. We walked the trail to the river which was a great fitness option for those looking to stay active. The main lobby had a great selection of books, DVDs and board games to use during the stay which was fun. They also had cookies, candy and great tasting lemonade available in the lobby which was a nice touch.

Overall I thought this place was fabulous and I'm excited to come back to the peaceful ambiance!

We stayed in one of the Cave B Inn cavern rooms on a last minute deal. room was great, clean and good size. view from room and patio was astounding. sitting outside on the patio and there was no sound. total quiet except for an occasional bird song. the staff were all very knowledgable and nice. Tendril's restaurant was a bit expensive but food was outstanding, good portions and very friendly knowledgable staff. we will go there again during off season.

This is a unique and beautiful setting in The Gorge. Expensive accommodations and food. Food was worth it. But the accommodation items were not working. First, our keys would not work so we had to move to another room. Then the wifi and fireplace never did work while we were there.
Service was good and the estate is beautiful.

Room Tip: Ask about everything working first.

It was a last minute idea to stay at Cave B, which we did on Sunday night (which allowed us to take advantage of their "last minute deal" saving us a bit. The Cavern Rooms are incredibly private and offered us stunning views and incredible peace. We ate a light dinner at Tendrils Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the attentions of Jose and Gerry. Our conversations added to the amazing taste of the Sea Bass special. I will admit its a little pricey but well worth it for special occasions. We'll be back!

Things went wrong before we even got there. The day we were to travel a large avalanche covered I-90 and would be closed all day. We phoned the resort and they said that the pass closure wasn't a good enough excuse to rebook without penalty. They said other people with reservations were coming from Seattle, so why can't we. We did take the alternate route, enduring another snow covered pass and an almost 5 hour trip. A waiter who was standing around came over to the checkout desk and he didn't even know where our suite was. !After sorting that out, the fireplace in our suite didn't work. Paint was chipped off all the walls and the dvd wouldn't work!! One day we tried to order room service, but the room phone didn't work, so we went downstairs to order in person. The food was sent up and the potatoes were stone cold ! The room guide said check out was a certain time and when we checked out we found out the checkout was an hour later but no one told us. Very frustrating ! The finale was that when we checked our credit card statement, we were overcharged by over $70. Never again !!!

I will start in saying we visited this inn last summer and were upset with the customer service-there was little to be found. On this visit, it was amazing! From our check-in to our check-out, our service was very good. The location speaks for itself, very quiet and gorgeous views, even in the late winter. The food at Tendrils, while a bit expensive, is excellent. You do not leave hungry! Our Cliff Side accommodations were clean and comfortable. Our golden loves it there. Two issues though that we discussed with the manager while we were there. In booking this weekend for a friend's birthday, we had to call and verify the dates and accommodations several times, which was unacceptable. In addition we were requested to place reservations for dinner and Sunday brunch. Our second night dinner reservation was for 2, not 4, and our brunch reservation was non-existent. Luck for us, the staff were able to seat us within minutes after re-arranging tables. This was our friend's first visit here and they have raved about it since we got home. We were very pleased in the changes that were made in customer service. I would highly recommend this resort for a quiet weekend, or mid-week break from your hectic life.

Room Tip: All rooms have fantastic views so you can't go wrong.
