Cave B Inn is located above the Columbia River Gorge with spectacular views all around the property. Our overall experience was perfect!!!

We hosted family and friends for a weekend event and experienced the most amazing food & service - throughout the entire weekend. Everyone absolutely loved the property & the service. I captured some photos to give you an idea of the tranquility you will experience. We lounged by the pool, we hiked, we took advantage of the spa services and had many meals, including room service - everything was great & the food was amazing!!! We did not once think about turning on a TV . . . therefore, I have no idea if the TV works or doesn't work. We had zero issues with driving our car down a driveway to get to our Cliffhouse #15 (we did drive slow since it is a dirt road with rocks). And, if you are not comfortable with driving on the dirt roads or walking distances (the property is pretty spread out), Cave B staff will get you around on their golf carts. They do have rooms for people with disabilities and are thoughtful to provide extra service - you just need to ask, which we did for one of our guests.

We experienced responsive, professional, and friendly service from the entire staff. If we needed an extra amenity or something for our room, it was only a phone call away. We did not experience any issues with staff not being available. In fact, we found the staff to be very responsive, including when one of our guests was stung by a bee and fainted. The team sprung into action to get us medical assistance - they knew what to do & they were very professional and empathetic during the entire incident. Thankfully, our friend recovered at the local hospital and was able to rejoin our group.

The property is dark at night, the grounds are not perfect, walkways can be of dirt and gravel, and the property is very spread out - depending on where you are staying . . . however, this is the appeal for us - being in the middle of nowhere with natural beauty all around you & spectacular evenings looking at the stars. To enjoy this appeal, we were prepared: I packed flashlights for ourselves and our guests & they did come in handy; I also informed our guests to bring proper attire: good walking shoes for dirt, gravel, grass, and cement walkways, clothes for hiking, and a sweater for the evenings; I packed snacks & sunscreen for everyone to have in their rooms (closest store for snacks or anything is about 15 minutes away & probably isn't open late). Next time, I will pack eye/sleeping masks for guests staying in Yurts (very bright, very early), however, everyone still loved staying in the Yurts & Cliffhouses.

Cave B Inn & Spa and the Winery were worth the money. And, I cannot wait to go back to enjoy another amazing experience!!!!!

Room Tip: If you can afford a Cliffhouse - book a Cliffhouse. For Yurts - book one with a River View.

My mother and I stayed on Business two weeks ago, and we stayed in a yurt. We have never stayed in one of the yurts so it was a experience. We always stay in the cliff houses or the cavern rooms that offer more amenity's, though the Yurt was a fun experience, we do prefer to stay in our regular Cliff House on all our next visits. We where in the Quincy area to install art by Douglas Granum, so after a long day, we had dinner at Tendrils the restaurant on site, What a Absolutely wonderful Dinner!

Overall cant wait to return!

Room Tip: Cliff Houses or Cavern rooms, the Yurts are fun if your wanting to explore!

Thank you for being a loyal Cave B fan and taking the time to write a review. The Yurts are , meant to provide a more affordable option, and yes, have more appeal to those who want to experience something a little different than the usual. We will pass on your kind words about the food to the kitchen staff. Looking forward to your next visit.,

First the excellent points:
- Views are absolutely amazing
- Setting is sublime
- Architecture is unique and pleasing
- Great (although laid-back) service
- Romantic
- Other-wordly relaxing (although there was not a concert next door)

The not so excellent:
- Needs some spiffing up
- Needs a good cleaning
- Restaurant is just okay
- Interior decor is a little un-cohesive with the architecture, as well as a little Holiday Inn-ish

All-in-all, we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was quick to give us a room upgrade. They were friendly and easygoing.
We would definitely go back for another nice weekend. The lack of that last star was mostly due to just a lack of that certain something. If you are going to have $600 rooms, you need to have $600 room maintenance, decor, etc.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, we very much appreciate the feedback. The Inn has been open now for eight years and yes, it is due for some renovations. We will be closed from December 16th through February 13th coming up, and plan on using this time off to do a thorough spiffing up of the rooms. We look forward to hosting you again next year!

We stayed in one of the private bungalows that overlook the Columbia River Gorge. The rooms were modern and very well done. The beds were comfortable and enticing. We did the hike down to the river front right after we arrived. The climb back up was a bit painful but well worth the trip. Dinner in the restaurant was one of the best meals I've had, we still talk about the different courses and which was our favorite. If I had to think of one complaint it would be that the winery attached, Cave B Wines are not amazing. They are ok, but no where near as good as the food. This is the perfect romantic get away.

Thanks for sharing your positive experience at Cave B with others. We are so pleased that you liked your room and the food in Tendrils. We will pass that on to staff, who work very hard to please.

We had such a wonderful time at Cave B. Stayed in a cliff house. Cave B red plan. Had an amazing 5 course dinner paired with 5 wines. The staff took such good care of us. Drove us around to unload the car and to get us around the grounds. We fell in love with our waitress from dinner. She was very knowledgeable about the dinner and the pairings of the wines.
The next day we did our wine tasting and had a blast with the Girls that were working.
I would recommend this place for just a wonderful getaway!!

Room Tip: Loved the Cliff houses

My husband and I spent a night at Cave B on the last night of our honeymoon road trip. The views of the Gorge are spectacular. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We stayed in one of the cavern rooms (which isn't actually in a cavern, to our disappointment). It had a comfortable king sized bed and a huge bath tub big enough for two and an open partition so that I could lounge in the tub while my husband read to me from bed.

The restaurant prides itself on importing their chef from france. Honestly, the food was good but I felt that overall it was a little bland and not worth the high price. The service was also lacking. My guess is that Cave B is in the middle of nowhere and has to pull employees from the neighboring communities that have nothing that resembles fine dinning or anything to give their servers previous experience promoting customer satisfaction. For instance, we ordered an arugala salad with raspberries & creme fraiche with dinner. The salad arrived and it was prepared with spinach instead of arugala. To me, this is a big difference. For one, it isn't what I ordered. The salad was very mild and bland without the arugala to spice it up. If they were out of something, I would hope that the server would let me know so I could make an informed decision about what I ordered. They offered to comp us one of our drinks, which didn't happen. I didn't want to bring it up because we came here to enjoy ourselves, not to feel stingy.

The next morning we had to wait a very long time for them to clear a vacant table outside. There were not a lot of people there, maybe 5 tables total. When we were seated she brought us our coffee but took more than 10 minutes to bring us cream and sugar so our coffee was cold before we could drink it. It is also kind of a slow form of torture to put a steaming cup of coffee in front of a freshly awake person and not give them cream or sugar. I suppose we could have just drank it black but, again, we came here to enjoy ourselves.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience. Their waitstaff is a little green but once they break them in and add a little salt and spice to their food they'll get a 5 star rating.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience with us at Cave B Inn, and we are happy that your overall experience was enjoyable. To clarify a point of fact, our chef is not French, but rather is 100% Washington born and bred. We will pass on your thoughts on the food and service. This kind of feedback will drive home to our young staff what the standards are for a fine dining establishment. .

This is a gorgeous location and property that you won't find anywhere else in the world, it's very unique. If you want to relax, eat fantastic food (the chef is really excellent) and drink excellent wine (and I'm very particular) in a special location this is a great place to stay. It is low-key so you don't have the extra amenities that you would have in a less remote location but that's part of the charm of the location. As of late there is a bit of wear and tear in the rooms and at the pool but nothing that changes the enjoyment of the experience, just don't expect 5-star perfection like you're at the Four Seasons, it's more laid-back than that but you can request whatever you need/want and they can take care of it. Love this place.

Room Tip: The cavern rooms are delightful, really cool feeling. The cliffehouses are special because you have...

Thank you for your very kind review. You hit the nail right on the head, and wrote a review that will be helpful to potential guests. We are a little more relaxed and laid back, and we have found that that seems to be what many of our guests are looking for-as we often see them simply sitting on their terrace for hours after arrival, soaking in the views and the tranquility-coming down..
