We stayed one night at the Lake Quinault Lodge. Wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed in the Beverly Suites room. We sat around the bonfire at night on the beach with other guests. We were then told the story about how our room which is named after a lady who was killed years ago in a fire at the lodge was suppose to be haunted. It made our stay even more enjoyable but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. My daughter did say items she had did move during the night after she woke up. We will return. It is located in a wonderful area close to the Quinault Rainforest which we thought was better than the Hoh Rainforest.

Breathtaking view from the hotel. The front lawn to the lake is a great place to read and take in the view. We had a wonderful dinner in the Rosevelt Room. We stayed in the boathouse, the rooms were very small and inadequate. But the views and sounds of the lake were wonderful. Many activities to do at this location. Lots of good hiking. We truly enjoyed out stay.

This was our last stop in the Olympic National Park and what a restfull and peacefull place it was. The lake was as blue and beautiful as the pictures I'd seen. Though the room might have been average the view was far from ordinary! I was surprized how quiet it was considering the busy lake traffic.

It only took a few minutes to get seated on the outside patio and we were served water and an iced tea without much of a wait but from then on the service went downhill. While waiting about 20 minutes to order, we overheard guests at the other tables talking about how slow the service was. One group actually canceled its order after receiving their soup and salads. Then they applauded when another table got the order after waiting an hour. We were about to leave but (against our better judgment) we ordered, thinking that it was probably just a lunch time rush and since it was a little after 2pm, the service should be improving. Unfortunately, we were very wrong. After waiting at least another 30 minutes without so much as another glass of water, a different server approached, apologized for the delay, and said that it shouldn’t be too much longer because he just put our order in. Since we had already been waiting about an hour we decided to leave.
We noticed that the staff was trying to do their best but looked to be poorly trained. This was evident by the way they spoke to the customers and their inability to tend to tables efficiently.
On our way out we asked to speak to the restaurant manager. She said that they were having problems with the menu and that she had been upstairs creating a new patio lunch menu for tomorrow. Why wasn’t she helping her servers get caught up instead? Why wasn’t she talking to the customers who were waiting a very long time for their orders? She offered to make it up to us and we accepted by agreeing to have some sweet potato French fries but after waiting about 15 minutes we decided to leave (again).

It was our last stop on a magical anniversary trip around the Olympic peninsula. While my husband is a Seattle native and I've been in the Northwest since 1972, neither of us had ever been to Lake Quinault much less the lodge. What a special place! The site is serene, just calling us to relax.

The wait staff was friendly and offered us a choice of a room in the main lodge without a view or a room with a view in the newer section. We went for the view of the lake. And it was lovely. The room itself was nothing special but given the location, it was fine.

When we arrived, we simply sat in the sun in the chairs on the beautiful lawn facing the lake. Some folks were playing croquet down below, a small party was happening on the grass nearby. Every aspect of the place said "relax". We did.

A little before dinner, we walked inside to discover a couple people playing chess in the lobby. Another person was working on a jig saw puzzle. We couldn't resist the puzzle and sat down to work it. Others stopped by to join us. It was a great way to meet people from around the country!

My only complaint: the cheesy music over the sound system. They definitely need to update the sound!

When our car broke down the next morning, our time at the lodge was extended as we waited for a tow truck. The puzzle gave us something to do. And the hotel staff was most helpful in giving us access to a phone (no cell phone service). They also referred us to a towing service.

So our anniversary became quite an adventure. We did make it home to Seattle, with our car in tow and a ride in a tow truck.

$200 a night doesn't get you much anymore, at least here. Yes, it had a beautiful lake, fantastic old lodge, friendly staff but this lodge suffers horribly from greedy, Corp. compromise. We book a lake view room with two double beds, 2 adults, 2 children with ONE towel in the bathroom and no phone to call for more. A short hike to the reception area and request for more towels lead to a promise, never fulfilled. I dried with a wash cloth in the morning-didn't know I could do that. By the way, the TV remote was broke and the security latch on the door was broke. The dinning room looked nice, but we opted for the Cafe across the street. Great food in a rustic country atmosphere. Try the salmon burger. Breakfest was great too. There are a couple other hotels in the area worth exploring. Oh yes, very spotting WiFi. (Use the Cafe!)
