“Frosty lake”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

We went in the middle of winter. The lake was fogged in sometimes (looked like it had been photoshopped out) and brilliantly clear at other times. The lodge is clean and well-maintained, and the rooms were comfortabe (and warm!). The food was excellent. Try the French toast--it is unique and delicious.

We enjoy the lodge as a short winter getaway from telephones, television and the tasks of regular daily life. This time we stayed in a fireplace room, with a view of the sloping green lawn down to the lake. Of course the comfort of the bed, the cozy fireplace and wing tip chairs for reading or gazing out, and the availability of morning coffee added to our pleasure but the bigger draw for us is the huge main room in the lodge. The comfortable leather furniture, good lighting and constantly maintained fire invite reading, playing games and unhurried conversation over a cup of tea or glass of wine. We always note that the property offers something for people and families of every age group but we use it in our own way as a perfectly relaxing winter getaway.

Room Tip: The lodge rooms are small and quaint for couples who plan to be out and about most of the time. We e...

Enjoyed a tranquil respite after the holidays for two nights the first week of January 2013. Simply amazing to hike in the cool winter rain forest in the late afternoon and then to return to the well-lit welcoming lodge at dusk and warm up by the main fireplace. Really enjoyed the guided rain forest tour - personable and knowledgeable guide, stunning scenery, a stroll through the forest, waterfalls and bald eagles! Convenient location to drive to pristine and rugged ocean beaches. Staff, food, and facilities were all excellent. The fireplace rooms, with views across the lawn down to the lake, were spacious and comfortable. Bring a book and your outdoor gear and plan on re-connecting with yourself, your traveling companions, and with nature.

Room Tip: Fireplace rooms are spacious and have updated "lodge" decor.

My wife and I have our daughter and teenage granddaughter living with us. As much as we love having them here, sometimes it is nice to just get off by ourselves. This trip allowed us to read, sleep, and just spend time recharging our batteries in a lovely setting. The fact that our trip co-incided with a unusually bad rainstorm wasn't an issue since all we wanted to do was relax. The biggest problem was that nothing much was open during the 2nd week of January if we had wanted to be out and about. This was not a problem with the lodge...just the general area at that time of year. The lobby of the lodge had a roaring fire and was warm and welcoming whenever we came in. The loop through the rainforest was lovely and different both times we've stayed there. It is a lovely location and facility.

Room Tip: We stayed in a fireside room on our 1st visit. Nice room especially if you like to sit and watch a f...

What a wonderful place to spend a few days. We went for two days starting New Years Day. The weather was gorgeous, the Lodge and rooms were great, and the staff excellent. We took a tour through some of the Olympic Park run out of the Lodge the last day we were there and it was really good. We were lucky to have such great weather as it meant that we were able to go hiking in the spectacular area around the Lodge, but even without that it would have been a great 2 or 3 day retreat. In the summer it would be fabulous.

Room Tip: We stayed on the Lake side and had a great view of the Lake and across. We were on the ground floor...

We have been to the Lake Quinault Lodge several times in the past few years. We only have stayed in the Main lodge. The rooms are small, quaint, and comfortable but honestly we only use them to sleep. The large dayroom with the always going fire is where we like to relax. The room has several sitting areas with leather chairs and sofas. Perfect setting to bring a book, or for for some conversation. There is a bar that is open if the lodge is filled at least 50 percent capacity. You can order a glass of wine or cognac and sit and sip by the fire. Guests play chess, read, we see older kids go to an activities room where they offer video games i think.
There are several hiking trails right outside the lodge that are well kept and beautiful, great for working up an appetite before heading to the restaurant. Dinner prices are a bit spendy but breakfast is very affordable and they offer many choices with generous portions. The coffee is Starbucks, they even have a coffee bar on site. We think it is the perfect place to unwind and get away. We like going in the winter months, the prices are better and it is less crowded!

The Lodge itself was full so we stayed in the Lakeside rooms which are a very easy walk (almost attached) from the Lodge. Everything was very nice and cozy! The staff could not have been more accommodating and nice. The Lakeside rooms, though very nice, were more like a nice motel room but right on the lake so the views were beautiful. We spent the majority of "indoor" time at the Lodge. This Lodge was built in the early 1920's and they have done a wonderful job of maintaining the old charm yet keeping it updated. The furniture in the lobby is beautiful, all leather and very cushy and fits beautifully in the lodge theme of things. The lobby was filled with people reading books, playing games, checking the internet...just nice and quiet and relaxing. The food offered in the lodge restaurant was very good. We had dinner there one evening but went across the street to the "mercantile" for our breakfasts and lunches...much more reasonable and very good. The surroundings are breathtaking...but you must enjoy the rain...Hence...The "rain forest". We loved every minute. I would highly recommend the Lodge and the overall trip. Just beautiful!

Room Tip: For the full experience, you may want to reserve a Lodge room.
