“Okay, being remodeled, felt a little cheated on the price”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Pros: being remodeled. Looks like someone is really trying. Clean and bright with new furniture and white linens. Restaurant is austere, but good for groups and bar fare food was prepared without disappointment. A pretty good view and nice bright light in the restaurant. Lobby is massively group friendly - with round the clock beverages and breakfast/snack times. Good # of chairs and tables for visiting.

Cons: we felt totally gouged by the rate we accepted. It was over 2x what we found another guest paid for the same night (yes, seriously) and the person on the phone had said they were all but full. It was graduation weekend, so we did what we felt we had to do. When we arrived, there was plenty of space in the parking lot. So we felt deceived when when we forked over enough money to have secured a room at the Ritz in another city.

Also, for what we paid - the beds were Motel 6 at best. They felt cheap. Didn't get much rest. They were clean though - I'd be much less disappointed in the cheap beds if we'd paid a Motel 6 rate!

I'd stay here again in a bind OR if I were traveling with a large group. I do wish I didn't feel like someone had taken advantage of us because they knew other area hotels were full - I thought there were max rates a hotel could charge on a room...

P.S. If you do stay, note they have EXTREMELY hot shower water. Watch out!

With the Hilltop Inn recently completing renovations many who are familiar with this Inn will not recognize the establishment, especially once on the inside.

For our visit we stayed in one of the sweets. There are four of them and they are all set to a theme. The one we stayed in was called the Jazz Suite. It is ringed with a keyboard ceiling fringe and adorned with a litany of musical instruments. The colors are modern black and white which was quite a surprise being this was Pullman, Wa. Unbeknownst to us until sometime after checking in, we found out that there is quite a Jazz festival held here annually. This was the owners thinking when selecting décor. The room was spacious and comfortable with a King size bed. The (2) person in-room Jacuzzi was a nice surprise; however, hearing protection is advised when turning on the jet pumps. It appears that no sound deadening materials were used during installation. We also noticed that the finishing touches on construction of the suite were left somewhat as a lower priority. Anyone with even a short amount of experience in the contracting world will more than likely lose their mind. We even noticed the hallway was uneven and gave way under each step. I fear that the owners will have a problem on their hands within the year. We had some friends that stayed in one of the regular rooms and upon inspecting their quarters did not find the same trend and in fact found the quality control to be quite complete. The common area pool and hot tub were just recenlty completed as well

Prior to the renovation the restaurant at the Inn made an attempt at fine dining. They were not entirely successful and we were glad to see that now the fare is more targeted toward the family atmosphere. There is a full service bar that opens at 3 pm but the restaurant itself does not open until 4 pm. A full complimentary breakfast is served each morning in the lobby. We found it of sufficient quantity and quality.

We were in town to see one of our daughters graduate from college and were hit with the high rates that are representative of the demand during such events. While not overly priced it did seem a bit high but well within the manageable realm. As soon as graduation weekend was over the price dropped substantially. The Inn is located just on the outskirts of town but still within walking distance of downtown. This makes for a much easier entrance and exit especially during those peak days of the season when school is either starting or finishing

See you on the trail and remember, don’t be one of those

We stayed there over the weekend of the 19th of April. I didn't know until after we checked in that the pool and hot tub were being remodeled. I had planned on taking my 3 year old son to the pool to burn off some energy before bed while my daughters were hanging out with their friends. So having nothing to do but sit in the room was not much fun at all. I asked if they would be willing to discount my room rate due to no pool or hot tub available to use, but the answer was no by the manager. Then I thought I'd check if they offer any movies we could watch, but I was told they don't have that. So needless to say it was a very disappointing stay.

No pictures on walls, no rack to hold suitcase, no cups in bathroom (but there is a dirty rag), empty space for refrigerator, no guidebook about hotel amenities, no extra pillows or blankets. Pool and hot tub unavailable.

Very poor value for the price. $199 per night for an $89 room.

They did not offer any info about Internet service, but we pried it out of them and its a good, strong signal.

The Hilltop Inn in Pullman recently underwent a total remodel, larger conference room and a major 56 room addition. All new rooms. motif, colors, furniture and large guest room TVs. It now includes a restaurant and lounge within the hotel. Clearly the premier hotel in the Pullman-Moscow market. Excellent design, amenities, and service at no additional cost.

Room Tip: Rooms on the highway side have oblique views of the WSU campus, the Palouse and Pullman. New wirele...

They were still under construction, should have been a clue not to stay there. Pool was closed and elevator not working. Wouldn't give us a discount. Part of this was our fault. We had no reservation, just walked in. Another 10 miles down the road to Moscow, ID and there were all the chain motels. Room noise from other guests was loud. Breakfast was cold and coffee was, too. Staff was super friendly, but that didn't help us sleep. Pillows were little wads of cotton. I don't understand four tiny pillows on a king size bed.

Stayed for 2 nights in pet friendly room. Room was on ground level, quiet and clean. Staff friendly. Location allows you to go for a nice evening walk. Close to downtown or the university. Fresh baked cookies and milk at 7 pm each evenings.
Pool and restaurant still not completed but getting close. Hotel is doubling in size, should be even better once construction is completed.
