“The only place I'm happy to recommend.”
Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

I've had a really hard time finding food in WA that isn't bland, fried, or generally underwhelming. Especially healthy food. But after ordering my first salad with a side of salmon, I was hooked. The great wine list is just another reason. They really do care about their customers and their product and it shows! While they offer wines from europe, they also suport local businesses as well. It can get noisy when full, but a live musician often quells the noise, playing quietly in the background. I also feel very safe at their bar. It's my favorite place for a glass of wine and crackin' out a good book.

The meatball appetizer with lingonberries was the best thing we ate here, but the rest of our entrees were unremarkable. The clam chowder was too salty and had too much bacon in it for my taste. Good local beers were served, thumbs up for the local beers from Ballard.

“What a treat!”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

We enjoyed a very nice quiet dinner here. The service was impeccable, and the food was even better. The choices on the menu had a little something for everybody. I had the Fish and Chips which was a little greasy, but the flavor was amazing. The garlic aioli that accompanied the fish and the parmesan fries was amazing. My wife had the Hungarian Stroganoff. The flavor was wonderful and the portion size was huge. After having some Norwegian Meatball appetizer and the bread served along with our cocktails, we left very happy and very full. The wine list was plentiful but we opted for a few of their unusual but flavorful cocktails. We would definitely go back here again, there are still a few things we would try on the menu.

“Bringing Home The Turkey and Trimmings”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Color us smart. Lean on your crayon. We’re twice smart. Not about everything of course. But certainly when it comes to dining at Mor Mor an intimate bistro in Poulsbo we know we won’t be disappointed.

Mor Mor a Scandinavian word that means grandmother is the place to go for fine cuisine in Poulsbo,Washington, across Puget Sound from Seattle. You can read about Mor Mor at their website,www.mormorbistro.com but I want to share with you what makes us know we’re smart.

On Thanksgiving More Mor offers a meal to go that feeds eight. We’ve bought the meal two years running and couldn’t be happier with the food and service provided by John and Laura Nesby, chef, owner.

This year there was herb roasted natural turkey, savory bread stuffing, classic mashed potatoes, sage scented turkey gravy, roasted veggie medley, the famous Mor Mor Mac N Cheese, classic Caesar salad, a fresh country baguette, Grayland, Washington cranberry preserves and Laura’s pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

The first year we bought the meal we served six members of our family and had left overs for several days. This past year we carted this delicious meal 153 miles over the mountains and through the forests to Yakima, Washington for dinner with six family members and a visiting college student. There was enough food to feed everyone for two days.Well, not quite. Laura’s cupcakes disappeared the first night. They, like the rest of the food is yummy on your tummy.

All of this superbly prepared food comes perfectly packaged accompanied with heating and serving directions. In fact the typed up directions are a literary work worthy of saving.

You know how much effort goes in to preparing a Thanksgiving dinner. You don’t want to disappoint your guests. You slave over it. Privately, and sometimes publicly you swear you won’t do this again. Now, for $150 you don’t have to.

John and Laura Nesby chef and owner have sterling culinary credentials. See their bios at their home page. This year they also offered a Christmas dinner to go but, alas, we were out of town.

“Great Dinner Place! A must visit in Poulsbo!”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

A great little restaurant that is as much a nice wine and appetizer place as it is a traditional restaurant! So if you are in the mood for drinks or dinner, this is the place to go.

The menu is varied and offers a great selection of fish and other dishes. If you want something more formal - they have it. If you want just a burger - they have that, too! The staff is excellent and my only complaint is that it can get a bit noisy.

The staff is accomodating of what you want - a large dish, some appetizers, or some side dishes. Whatever you want, they will help you enthuisastically and give you great recommendations!
