Green Cat Guest House and B&B

The Green Cat is a magical guesthouse that appears like a childhood vision of home, down a dirt road, through a forest of tall pines... Kimberly and Ken are wonderful, welcoming hosts and the whole feeling of the place is peace, love, and beauty. They have put so much care into every detail. Wonderful beds and sheets (which I always am picky about), and thoughtful amenities.

I was traveling alone and could only stay one night, but I definitely want to return with my husband someday.

The grounds are beautiful too, with paths that meander and take you to hidden garden spots and a great hammock :)

My wife and I had toured the Green Cat 3 years ago when Ken generously showed us around the guest house and the grounds. We finally made a February 2012 reservation for the Master Suite and were so disappointed when our child care plans fell through and had to cancel. Ken was so generous again and mailed us a Green Cat gift certificate to be redeemed within a year. We finally stayed last night and it was well worth the wait. Highlights: Calming music, nice faux fireplace, shared hot tub, fire pit, very friendly welcome, excellent room all around, friendly kitties, quality breakfast waiting for us when when we asked with great coffee, QUIET, close to Poulsbo and it's 3 new breweries! (Valholl, Slippery Pig, and Sound). I recommend using the online reservation system. As it says, you do not have a room reservation until you get a confirmation email. I would say getting ahold of the innkeepers by phone can be difficult at times. Just do it online and meet them when you arrive. Very nice people. We would love to come back.

This is the first time I have stayed at a B&B so don't have anything to compare it to. The location and grounds were outstanding. It is nestled in the woods on 2 acres. You can walk the grounds and feel like you are miles from civilization. The house is old but in great condition. It is 4 floors with the bottom 2 reserved for the owners. We only saw the owners the 2 days we were there when we arrived. The room we had, on the top floor, was nice but the furnishings were a little gaudy for my taste. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a shower and was nice. Our room was above the breakfast room and we could hear the other guests in there so the floors/walls were thin. The breakfast was ok; nothing outstanding but acceptable. There was a great deck with a large hot tub for the guests. The breakfast room had a washer and dryer, stove & oven and dishes, pots and pans for the guests use. There was also a TV for the guests. I would return to this B&B.

Room Tip: Since the walls were thin, I recommend you stay on the top floor. You would have to walk down 1 fli...

We are delighted these folks enjoyed their stay at THE GREEN CAT GUEST HOUSE and we look forward to their return. Part of the fun of our B&B is the design and decor. Our house was built in 1980 by 5th generation Poulsbo-ians whose Norwegian heritage the house reflects. It is truly unique in design and appearance - it's steep roofs reminiscent of the 11th century Norwegian Stave churches. Surrounded by our flowering herb gardens, giant Douglas Fir and Cedar, the house has a kind of magic. The Lavender Room, a cosy nest at the top of the house has Ralph Lauren bedding with a hand painted mural at the apex of the 16ft ceiling by Bainbridge Island artist Barbara Wilson whom we commissioned in 2005 to paint her wonderfully whimsical murals depicting forests where a magical green cat may be found among the branches...

Also part of the fun at The Green Cat is the meeting of travelers from all parts of our country and abroad and the lively banter and story-sharing that occurs around the breakfast table in the morning. Our breakfast features fresh eggs, produce and dairy from our neighbor's farms here in our valley and in our county. We make our own yogurt and tasty breakfast breads, muffins, granola, and serve a variety of dishes from frittatas with fresh zucchini, sweet red pepper and locally hand-crafted cheeses, poached eggs resting on whole wheat English muffin with avocado, home made hollandiase sauce and fresh herbs, honey & blueberry whole wheat pancakes with orange/ginger sauce - etc!! Come and join us! We look forward to meeting you! - Kimberly King and Ken Grantham, owner-innkeepers The Green Cat Guest House Bed&Breakfast, Poulsbo Washington State

We have not been able to return to the Green Cat for a few years but we have such warm memories of our many visits. The home is beautifully situated off the beaten path, set on beautifully tended acreage, and is serene and restorative. We Highly Recommend the Green Cat!

Just returned from a lovely trip to the Pacific Northwest where we managed to catch up with several California transplants now living in the Puget Sound area. the Green Cat was the perfect centrally located spot for our Thanksgiving week travels.
We didn’t expect the above average attention to detail that we encountered. Although not luxurious, the rooms were nicely appointed and seemed recently decorated. The overall feeling was quaint, quiet, clean, cozy and appropriately snug. Our bed was perfect. The view From our window, made it feel like we were on top of the world. We stayed in the Lavender Room and in the off season, had the entire third floor to ourselves. The eggs we had for breakfast came from the neighbor’s chickens. Ken made a wonderful pumpkin spice bread for us. An occassional friendly cat as well as the distant barnyard sounds contrbuted to a charming pastoral ambiance. The hot tub was especially welcome after a day of sightseeing as the weather was quite cold. I would describe the innkeeping style as professional with a warm & distinctly human touch. We recieved tips regarding the best local restaurants and cultural excursions. We look forward to a return trip in the summer so that we can catch up on the great hiking opportunities nearby.

Room Tip: Adjacent rooms can accommodate families. A breakfast room and adjacent kitchen is on the 2nd floor.

After a fabulous cruise in the San Juan Islands, we thought it couldn't get any better, but the relaxing atmosphere at the Green Cat was the icing on the cake of our trip. The rooms are private, well decorated, and extremely cozy. The grounds make for wonderful strolling, and there is a walk down the road into a deep dark forest that is pure Northwest. The fascinating hosts are working actors, who don't just play their roles, but are helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

Room Tip: The upstairs suite with private entrance has a lovely balcony where you can enjoy your coffee while...

Outstanding experience at the Green Cat! They were perfect hosts and have wonderful rooms. We will return and enjoy the gardens, food and wonderful hosts of the Green Cat.
Of course, we are cat lovers, so that makes it all the better.

Room Tip: Ask for the upstairs suite with private entrance.
