Wow! What a romantic place. You won't find more gracious & accomodating hosts. Jim & Gail went way beyond expectations without even trying. We can't wait to return this Spring/Summer! Great location with plenty of parking, easy to find yet well removed from the traffic of downtown. Just a 2 minute drive of even a nice 5-minute walk will get to to all the shops & restaurants. Jim has great ideas for dining...you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Schooner Room has a great view with private bathroom suite.

Jim & Gail are consumate host & hostess at this comfortable, homey waterfront B&B where you see the sun rise over Mt Baker and the Puget sound. Bald Eagles, Osprey, hummingbirds, seals & seagulls keep you mesmerized during daylight. In the waterfront rooms you hear waves lapping up on the beach, and smell the salt air. The beds are super-comfy. Evening hours allow exploration of interesting memorabelia within the home. The unique city of Port Townsend is a short walk and the marina famous for wooden boat shows is closer yet. The breakfasts are delicious and unique--the WiFi is solid, and the owners are genuine folks with big hearts and a great sense of humor. You really must treat yourself to this unforgetable destination. You will want to return.

Looking for a BB or place to stay while in Pt. Townsend or nearby?

You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay with Gail and Jim at the Commander's Beach House. We stayed in the Island View room , which was extremely comfortable - clean - and the view / sounds of the water added to the overall ambience nicely. (Note: The bathroom was not in the room we chose to stay in, but is private and just down the hall - which matters not to us, but may to some.)

When you are ready to venture from your room, but not quite ready to leave the house - there is a living room with a fireplace and other amenities - and when you do head out - you are within walking distance of downtown and it is a short drive to the other "things to do" in Pt. Townsend.

You will find Gail and Jim to be extremely helpful ( from recommendations, making dinner reservations, ensuring your coffee cup is full during breakfast, ...... ) hosts - who truly care about making your stay a memorable one.

btw: breakfast is fantastic .............. & as one with a dairy allergy - their accommodating that was a huge plus.

We drove down to Port Townsend for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary...we couldn't have picked a better location. This 1930's era beachfront mansion, which is located on the edge of town, maintains its charm and character to this day, offering comfortable ocean view rooms which are roomy, well appointed, and private, along with a common living room complete with fireplace for those who simply want to sit back, relax and read...or watch the world slip by through the ocean view windows. For the heartier lot the beach house also offers an ocean fronting veranda with comfortable lounge chairs and warm blankets should it get too cold.

A wonderful experience...we can't wait to go back...thanks Gail & Jim

Room Tip: The Lighthouse Room offers excellent views of the water and has a private bath

Fun two-day trip to Pt. Townsend. The Commander's Beach House was comfortable, the hosts couldn't have been nicer, and the breakfast was great.

We will be returning many times.

We also had dinner at Lanza's, recommended by Gail and Jim, which was incredible.

This was only the second experience at a B&B for my husband and me. It was such a warm and comfortable stay. Gail and Jim were wonderful hosts. The room was very clean, cozy and comfortable. We loved falling to sleep to the sound of the ocean. The gourmet breakfasts were such a treat. If all B&B's were this nice, we would never stay at hotels again!

My wife and I spent three days at the Commanders' Beach House in October, 2012. The house sits right on the water. I spent mornings before day light sitting on the front porch sipping coffee and listening to waves and sea gulls.

Our second floor room had terrific views of the water. We spent one morning sitting by the windows reading. Other days we explored the town and Fort Worden Park. The breakfasts were amazing. We're vegetarian and Gail serve exquisite vegetarian fare just for us. Over all it was outstanding. Superlative!

Room Tip: The Light House Room and the Sunflower Room have fantastic views of the water.
