Had another great July stay in the Clubhouse. Even in midsummer, when it's busy in Port Townsend, Chevy Chase is a quiet get away; so relaxing and never crowded. This property is just the right size and provides plenty of privacy. Old friends in a neighboring cabin were just the right distance away, and we met some new friends at the fire pit. Can't wait to return with family next month.

Room Tip: The website gives great information about the unique amenities of each cabin

We are tickled every time we receive a new review, but our smiles are that much bigger when we see the praise is coming from one of our favorite returning guests. We love to read that, even during our busiest peak season months when all of the cabins are full, the property still feels private and quiet to you. Your experience reflects what so many others have commented on – the clustered cabins are perfect for groups of family or friends to spend time together, yet the cabins are independent enough to allow for a private retreat. It is important to us that guests can find that balance between their “own” space and the communal areas – and we love it that new friendships are being formed around the new fire-pit and gazebo area! It was great to see your family this month. We are so glad that they have grown to love Chevy too.

The property where the cabins are located is pretty big, and has a nice view over the bay. The cabins are not too close together giving certain privacy. If cold (like in May) there's not a lot to do (too cold for beach and pool) on the property but the town is very close, so it was not a problem.

The keepers are very nice and accommodating, and gave good recommendations of what to do in the area. It is unfortunate they don't do breakfast in the main house; it would have been terrific.

The cabins (#10) is nothing outstanding, small, simple, cozy, clean. Heating system with no thermostat (!) and I think no AC (not sure if it ever is necessary). Our cabin was a bit too small, even for a couple as there's really very little room to enjoy breakfast inside. What I liked a lot, though, was the hard floor terrace outside, perfect for sitting and relaxing (with a coat!).

Conclusion: very nice place, near Port Townsend, but some of the cabins are rather small.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience! We are happy to read that you were able to enjoy the views from the property, found Cabin #10 cozy and clean and that you were happy with the recommendations that we provided for things to do in the area. It is true - our studio cottages (#7 and #10) are small. We try to be very transparent about that in all of our online descriptions and during the reservation process as we never want anyone to be caught off guard. The space might have felt a little extra cozy for your family with the addition of a child to the space (on rare occasions we make exceptions to our occupancy rules and allow young children to stay in the studios with their parents when larger cabins are not available). The studios truly are ideal for one or two guests who plan to enjoy the fantastic local restaurants for the majority of their meals, and prepare simple meals (i.e. breakfasts, lunches or picnic-style snacks) in their cabin. Luckily, since the cabins are so cozy, the temperature is easy to control - the spaces stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer (we provide fans seasonally as needed). We are glad that you enjoyed the deck area. We agree the decks outfitted with Adirondack chairs, are the perfect outdoor extension of the cabin as is our new gazebo and fire pit area. They are ideal spots for enjoying a cup of coffee as the morning fog lifts off Discovery Bay, or catching an epic sunset with a glass of wine. We hope to host you again in the future, maybe next time in a larger cabin and hopefully with warmer weather!

This place on Discovery Bay and at the foothills of the Olympic Mountains is a gem. There are 7 well-appointed cabins, private beach access perfect for long walks, a heated seasonal pool, tennis and lawn games, wireless internet, dvd players, a movie library and it's only 10 minutes from downtown Port Townsend. It's a serene and beautiful setting. My favorite is Cabin #6 which has two bedrooms, one queen and two twins, full kitchen, barbecue and wood burning stove. It has both bay and mountain views. All of the properties and cabins are lovely.

Room Tip: Love all of the properties, it's hard to choose the best.

Thank you for your kind review! We are so glad you enjoyed the amenities of Cabin #6. From the sweeping views from the master bedroom, to the floor to ceiling windows in the living room that offer panoramic views of Discovery Bay and the foothills of the Olympics, Cabin #6 is one of our best view cabins. The full kitchen, cozy wood burning fireplace, cliffside deck and proximity to the beach trail also help create this dreamy cabin getaway. Although we agree that all of the cabins are lovely (thank you!), we also work hard to make sure there are other amenities and experiences outside the cabins that our guests can enjoy such as the lawn games, heated swimming pool (seasonal), our new gazebo and fire pit area, private beach and more. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future!

We spent our wedding anniversary in a beach cabin at Chevy Chase in Port Townsend WA. Our little yellow cabin - #7 - was cozy but ample for our purposes. A very clean cabin with a great bed, bath & cooking facilities that met our needs on this special occasion. We especially love the beach and during the week we had it all to ourselves. The pool was a perfect way to top off a long hike.
The owners/caretakers are wonderful and ready to help in any way.
We didn't bring the kids this time but it's a great playground for all ages.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review and allowing us to be part of your anniversary celebration. It sounds like you had the perfect getaway and enjoyed all that Cabin #7 has to offer. We love that you took full advantage of the serenity that is midweek travel and spent a great amount of time at the beach and enjoyed a dip in the pool. Although our beach is often quiet throughout the year, staying midweek before the hustle and bustle of summer is a great way to guarantee you will likely get to enjoy a private escape at the beach or a nearly empty pool. We hope to have the opportunity to host you and your family again in the future.

These cabins are located on the edge of a bluff overlooking Discovery Bay. We stayed in Cabin #10. I would call it comfortable rustic. The bed was comfortable, the room fine for 2 people. there was a small frig a large coffee pot and toaster. The room was very clean. the manager was good about showing us around and making sure we had all we needed. There is a path down to the beach, a pool which we did not use since it was early in the season and cool. It is a short drive to Pt. Townsend. We likely would stay here again.

Room Tip: The cabins directly on the edge of the bluff(there is a map on website) would have the best views of the water and more private porch.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Cabin #10 and found the bed comfortable and the cabin clean. The studio cabins (Cabin #7 and Cabin #10) are perfect for two as they allow you to relax and unwind while also encouraging exploration on and off the property. Besides the many amenities on property, guests can also easily venture into downtown Port Townsend, explore the local hiking trails, parks and many other activities the Olympic Peninsula offers. We appreciate you letting us know that our staff was good about showing you around the grounds and making sure you had everything you needed. We hope to host you again soon and next time hopefully you can enjoy the pool!
