“Tasty subs and local beer on tap”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

Stopped for a late afternoon lunch before taking the ferry across to Whidbey. Amongst the four people dining, we sampled two panini and a sub, along with the smoked salmon chowder. The panini were large and tasty (one smoked turkey & artichoke, the other was Ham, pesto), the chowder was pretty good and of the cream variety. They also served 6-7 beers on tap, including two from the Port Townsed Brewing Company which we enjoyed. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity served. We also were able to sit at one of the few tables on the back porch overlooking the water, which was pleasant. I would definitely go back. The shop is tucked away in the back of one of the buildings on the main street, so you have to look for it.

“Best ever seafood chowder!!”
Reviewed April 2, 2011

Cannot believe that lengthy bad review. Either a bad day or no one could please him. I love this simple, fun, little place. The seafood chowder is over the top and all the soups are delicious and homemade from scratch. The salads are great, and my husband loves the subs. Everything is super fresh and local. Service is friendly and very down to earth. The balcony is lovely , on the water. The owner makes the soups and usually waits tables too. Everything is made in house. If you are looking for fancy this is not for you, it is fun, delightful, delicious and affordable. he locals eat here so that must tell you something.
I am going next week with3 of my girlfriends for 3 days and we will eat lunch here everyday.

“WORST LUNCH EVER...DON"T GO!”
Reviewed September 13, 2010

This was the worst lunch experience I have ever had!! The only good thing about this place is the waterfront location(but there are plenty more of those here). We had to sit down at a dirty table, because that's all there were. We waited 10 minutes before the waiter approached our table, and then he asked if someone had taken our order(even though when we walked in he was the one who said he would be right with us). He got us menus and took our drink order, took the dirty dishes off of the table, and did not even bother to wipe the table. We ordered 2 bowls of the smoked salmon chowder(the special on the front door board), and garlic bread. We also ordered 2 soft drinks. After 25 minutes we still had not received our drinks! We had to go inside and ask for them. When he realized that he had forgotten, he didn't even attempt to apologize for his error. He brought the drinks, one with a straw and one without(they must have been conserving straws that day). At the 40 minute mark he brought our garlic bread so I assumed the soup would be right behind it. Ten minutes later he asked if we were enjoying everything... Duhhhhh. 5 minutes later he brought ONE bowl of SHELLFISH SOUP and walked away. At this point he was taking the order of the table next to us, and when they ordered the smoked salmon chowder he wrote it down and started to walk away when I informed the unsuspecting women next to us that we had ordered the same and got shellfish soup insterad. The waiter overheard us and said "oh yeah, we're out of the salmon chowder". We asked for the check for the bread and drinks, and, of course did not leave a tip... UNBELIEVABLE!!!

“Great place for a sub sandwich”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

My husband and I had had a heavy lunch and wanted something simple and light for dinner. A sub was just the thing! As visitors to Port Townsend, we noticed the sandwich board sign on the street for the sub shop and headed inside.

Ordering is over the counter and the tables were out on the deck overlooking the water. So we had the benefit of a lovely view as we ate our subs. As light eaters, we asked to split a 6" Italian sub with pepperoncinis. I was impressed that the sub was not only cut in half but was split again into halves and served to us individually.

Being something of a sub snob, I was pleasantly surprised by both the taste and the choice of bread - firm but not so firm that it pulls out your teeth when taking a bite.

My only complaint: the bread was sliced all the way through so the ingredients had a tendency to squirt out. A sub with only one side of the roll cut open works much better because there's something to push against when taking a bite!

“Avoid the salad!"”
Reviewed July 31, 2009

The Cobb Salad was a disappointment, and the portions were tiny. In fact, there was no difference between the large and the small salad apart from the size of the plate and $4 in price. When this was pointed out to the server, the response was, "then the person with the small salad got a good deal." Not exactly. Avoid this place because the service was snooty and unresponsive, the food mediocre, and the prices a rip-off.
