Elegant yet casual. Fresh foods cooked to perfection - or raw. This restaurant caters to all with excellence.

“Intimate bistro style restaurant with good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

This wee restaurant was very busy the night we went for dinner. We hadn't made a reservation and were lucky to get in. I would recommend making a reservation! The building is heritage and looks as though it could have originally been built as a house in the early 1900's. It's a block off the main shopping street (Water Street) but not difficult to find and worth making the climb up the steps from Water Street. As another reviewer said, the name is misleading. Fountain Cafe makes me think of milkshake and hamburgers on chrome chairs. This restaurant is quaint and more like a bistro. The menu has a number of items locally produced. I had wild mushroom risotto and a salad. The salad was very fresh and delicious, as was the risotto. There was also a steak special offered that evening which looked delicious. The server was very friendly and the service was great. Definitely would go back there again to sample more of their menu.

“great place for a cozy meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

Most of my meals here have been great. The small tables make for a cozy environment, though it can be really noisy. Go for the warmed spinach salad and gingerbread for a treat on a cool, windy night.

“Name is misleading”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2014

Read a review of the Fountain Cafe on Trip Advisor and we were treated to some excellent food. Very small, too small tables but great service. Would definitely return on another visit.
