“What a pleasure!”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

There were less than twelve tables here, so be prepared to come early as they don't take reservations unless you've got a large party. Our meals were delicious and the bread, handmade from Pain D'Amore, a French style bakery in Port Townsend, was so good, we bought a couple of loaves the next day for our trip back to Bellevue. Our plan was to dine at different restaurants each day, but I wish we'd come back for a second meal here.

“Excellent Food and Service”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

This is a very small place, and they only take reservations for parties of five or more. There's room for about 25 diners. My sister and I arrived early for dinner service so that we could get a table. The one server was experienced and attentive and our food was excellent. I had shrimp over pasta, and everything was cooked perfectly. It's incredible that such a tiny kitchen and only two chefs can turn out such amazing food. There's a cut out in the wall, so that you can see into the kitchen. The pace of the meal was very leisurely. There didn't seem to be a rush to turn the tables over. This would be a wonderful place for a romantic dinner.

A walklng short cut from Water Street, the main road, is available up the hill to the restaurant via a steep staircase from Tyler St. The food is worth the climb.

“No PT visit complete w/o a meal here”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

The Fountain has never disappointed. It is an unassuming looking place, with great cooks preparing top-flight, local ingredients. The wine list is very good, and the staff knows it well. This is a place where you can have a "fancy" dinner while, in keeping with the PT vibe, dressed in shorts and sandals. It's comfortable like an old, cherished t-shirt.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

We are on a trip to this region and wanted an evening snack and glass of wine. This place had good reviews so we gave it a try. It's a cute place, artsy and the waiter was very nice, but the food was just so so. We had a special boar sliders... Practically tasteless. The Mediterranean starter was ok but not great. We wished we had eaten somewhere else.

We loved it here. It was a long wait for our food, but once it arrive, we were not disappointed. You can tell that each dish is prepared with great care and it is so good. The atmosphere is also pleasant and romantic. We had a wonderful time here.
