My boyfriend and I are used to staying at run-of-the-mill hotels while on vacation (and still feeling quite comfortable:), yet decided to treat ourselves last night at the Manresa Castle. We stayed in the tower suite (room 302). After tax, the room ran about $230. The room was beautiful! Unfortunately, the staff was so-so, not exactly the friendliest people I've met. The story of the haunting was what attracted us to the hotel in the first place (we are nerds when it comes to ghost stories) and were excited to hear from the staff about any eerie stories. My boyfriend asked the girl at the front desk what she knew of the haunting, but she seemed downright annoyed by his questions. I understand that they probably get asked daily about the legends, but it would not have hurt to have feigned at least a little excitement when responding. For the money we just spent, you could humor us a little. Also, asking for dinner or entertainment suggestions around town was met with a rather lackluster response of "eh, not really sure."
Later that night we went to the restaurant to grab some late-night clam chowder and catch the jazz band playing. Everything was great until I noticed that they had automatically added a cover charge to our bill, which was a whopping $8 per person! It seemed quite tacky to be charging guests a cover in the first place, let alone not giving any warning beforehand.
The previous reviews were dead-on about breakfast. I've seen day-care provide more food at snack time.
Overall, an interesting place to stay, however I would suggest GREATLY improving customer service!

The hotel honored our AARP card with a 10% discount. The windows needed cleaning, especially since we paid extra for the view. Staff could have been friendlier. The continental breakfast was average. No bathtub, but the bathroom was clean.

Manresa Castle is highly overrated. The staff is surly, the rooms are filthy, and breakfast is a joke. For the prices they charge they could buy a vacuum or two and actually use them once in awhile. We've stayed in third world countries that have better amenities.

This is over rated! Not only is everything small, which should probably be expected in facility this old, but the staff are a bunch of grumps. What happened to customer service?

We stayed at Manresa Castle for one night after attending the Lavender Festival in Sequim.
The gal who helped with check-in was pleasant and we were directed to our room within 3 minutes of walking through the front door. Our room on the 3rd floor was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. It was a bit warm, but there was a fan at the window and by the time we finished with dinner our room was comfortably cool. Our view was on the water side, and it was very pretty.
We ate our meal in the bar downstairs, and the food was fantastic -especially the Garden Baked Brie!
I would advise about the stairs to the rooms...pretty steep if you have bad knees, but I hear you can get a ride in the elevator if you need it.

Well, we should have paid more attention to tripadvisor before booking this one. Others have written exactly what we encountered; the hurry-up and grab your credit card charge before you even get to the room; the dirty room condition; the hair in the bedding, and the lousy attitude of the staff. What's so frustrating is that this place really does have some good potential, if they just hired a professional decorator and threw away some of the crappy furniture that's in the rooms. I'm not sure who there thinks that a cottage cheese ceiling gives a room any charm, or light fixtures that are hanging off the walls by a thread with ill fitting shades will want to be used by the guests, or that the "art" that decorates the walls looks like anything other than it came from the Salvation Army store down the road. We stayed in 304, and yes, the view is nice, but the third floor also gets terribly stuffy and you can only open the bottom hopper of two of the four windows; certainly not enough to air the room. The screens are ill fitting and all the tabs that hold them in are plastic and are broken. The shower had terrible water pressure; the jacuzzi tub took over 30 minutes just to fill above the jet height. The breakfast is a total joke, and the comment about it being served in the basement is right on.

We've had the pleasure of staying in a real castle in England, and this place shouldn't even use that name in it's title. It's more of a school with a turret, and inconveniently located near nothing except that shopping center. Yes, you have a view, but so do all the places uptown. It's dirty, overpriced, the help is absolutely uninterested in being of service to you, and the breakfast is a zero. If you want a "Castle", do yourself a favor and wait for the real thing. This is certainly not it.

When we checked in the staff was very helpful and accommodating, she even took us up in the elevator since our luggage was so heavy. Our room was very lovely and we absolutely loved it. The room was clean and the view was beautiful. We had a great time there and we hope to go back soon!
