Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: A historic cinema in downtown Port Townsend, with the best in current film, cult flicks and classics. The auditorium and facade feature gorgeous details from the Rose's day as a vaudeville house, dating back to 1907. With delicious popcorn, plus beer and wine and and a beautiful collection of film photos, the Rose is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Like no other small town theatre you've seen. Worth a visit even if you're not going to a movie!

Until you have experienced one of the excellent movie choices at the Rose, you have not done PT....not to mention the fabulous popcorn with real butter.

“Back to the past”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

It's like stepping back in time. This beautiful old theatre does it right, right down to the popcorn..
They still announce and detail the movie you are about to see.
Don't pass up the chance to enjoy a movie here.

“Movies with a personal touch”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Visiting The Rose is a bit like stepping back in time. Before each movie, one of the staff describes some little tidbits about its making, or director, etc. Though small, The Rose manages to provide mainstream as well as art house fare, along with several treats such as a monthly late-night film, opera, ballet, and theatre performances. We've even viewed silent films with live music!

“A dying breed of theater”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

If you are anything near to a movie buff, you should not miss an opportunity to see a film here. The Rose obviously is operated by someone who loves and cares about the movie-going experience. In fact, I'm guessing it was the owner who addressed the audience with facts and notes before the movie we saw. The theater is interesting and clean, the movies are "smart" and first run, and the concessions (great popcorn and baked goods) are top rate. The only thing that may have been missing are the wraparound seats found at the high-end theaters, but we even noticed that the seats at least looked and felt new (though lacking cup holders; not a problem). If we weren't in Port Townsend to enjoy the outdoors, my wife and I would've been at the Rose every day.
