Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: A historic cinema in downtown Port Townsend, with the best in current film, cult flicks and classics. The auditorium and facade feature gorgeous details from the Rose's day as a vaudeville house, dating back to 1907. With delicious popcorn, plus beer and wine and and a beautiful collection of film photos, the Rose is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Like no other small town theatre you've seen. Worth a visit even if you're not going to a movie!

“Small town gem”

This is an intimate and ownderful theatre where they give a little presentation on the synopsis of the movie right before it starts. Very small space, but they run first-rate movies and it is a Port Townsend experience you won't forget, in a good way!

“Fabulous Theater!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

This theater offers both foreign/independent films, along with a few, select first-run Hollywood offerings. They also offer satellite broadcasts of events such as the Met Opera, (British) National Theater, etc. They also do lots of fun community events and they are a main supporter of the Port Townsend Film Festival.

Their popcorn is AWESOME, and they have a whole bunch of different (FREE) seasonings for it. They also offer juice & other alternatives to pop (though, of course, they have that, as well!) Films are all in HD w/digital sound.

No visit to PT is complete without seeing a movie at the Rose!

“Excellent Movie Theatre”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

This is a very quaint movie theater and the seasoned popcorn is delicious. Take a moment and explore the old pictures and see all the snacks available, then go into the theater and enjoy the movie which is hand-picked for "content" and "substance." We saw "Liberal Arts" which was a very well-done movie. Very enjoyable experience.

“Theme Night”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We went to a late showing of The Big Lebowski. Everyone was in costume and it was a ton of fun!! The Rose will air cult movies on the first Saturday of each month.
