“When only Barbecue will do.....”
Reviewed August 9, 2011

In truth, we live here in Port Townsend but don't eat out a lot especially during the height of crowded summer tourist season---here's where Dos Oakies shines like the star it is: we are SO lucky to have this little gem of a restaurant that serves up totally satisfying Barbecue and keeps us forever returning and bringing our own out of town friends. Ribs are heavenly, as are the chicken, slaw, and beans, and if you're really hungry at lunch the po'boy will make you cheer with delight, and if you're really lucky you'll go to a local concert or party that they're catering with local caught salmon---heaven on earth! Larry and Mark round out the whole experience---there's nothing like the REAL THING!!!

“Authentic barbecue in a town handicapped by unauthentic food!”
Reviewed May 19, 2011

Port Townsend has great seafood and Northwest cuisine, but it's ethnic restaurants suffer from a lack of authenticity and watered-down "Americanized" seasonings. Dos Okies is authentic barbecue cooked with care. The meats are quality and the sauces reflect the dedication of the owners and do not cater to watered-down tastes. That means that the sauces are not cloyingly sweet, and spices are used assertively in all its offerings. Even vegetarians can enjoy some of the finest veggie baked beans I have ever tasted. since most everything they serve heats up well at home or holds its temperature back to a hotel or campground, it is one of our favorite choices for take-out in Port Townsend. Its great for catering, too!

“Barbecue Oklahoma Style”
Reviewed April 7, 2011

Dos Okies is right across the street from our motel room and since I don't get barbecue too often, we gave it a whirl. Being in the industrial part of town, they are only open until 7:00, so don't plan a late dinner here. The place is small, but the food is actually quite good. The owners are from Oklahoma (Okies) and they let it show on the walls. Lots of Oklahoma postcards and related items cover the wall along with pictures of the restaurant throughout the years. If you want a good chuckle, they also have humor and such to read on the walls while you eat. A lot of the food is prepared and ready to go. I had the barbecued chicken which I had to wait a few minutes for, but that was probably a good thing. The barbecue I had was more on the smoked side, but it was quite better than some barbecue I've had closer to home. Dos Okies is nothing fancy but the owners seem to take great pride in their food and their homeland. It makes for a fun little alternative to the downtown setting of town and is within walking distance of the few motels in the area.
