“Protection Island Cruise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

I was excited about the advertised cruise to Protection Island when I read the information on the website. But, I think there was some deception. Two crew members gave two different answers about why we would not be sailing on the advertised Glacier Spirit the day of departure. One said it was because there was not enough people and the other said "a blown gasket". So we went on a small boat and did not have much space. A couple people occupied the naturalist with questions so the entire group was not really involved. It's worth going, but I never have appreciated misinformation.

“A small marine center with oomph”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

The aquariums and "tide pools" at the marine science center were attractive and well cared for. Volunteers walked around pointing out interesting animals, and answering our questions. Worth the $5 admission.

“Great for smaller kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

These touch tanks are a world of fun and education for little hands! The admission ($5) also includes the natural history building across the street. Kids under 5 are free. Take your time, meander, and maybe learn a thing or two.

“Fun and informative!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

The staff on hand were extremely helpful, friendly and information. Being a 24 year old, I still really enjoyed the touch tanks and all the information provided along with that.

“Excellent opportunity to touch some neighbors from the sea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

This is a modest-sized aquarium filled with touch tanks featuring many of the local sea fauna. Little kids (and big ones, too) will enjoy touching the sea stars (us old folks used to call them starfish) and will laugh when the tube worms jump back into their tubes after you touch their tentacles. The staff are very knowledgeable and know how to explain their exhibits to the kids using words they can understand. Your admission also gets you into a smaller facility across the road which features the skeleton of an orca whale which beached itself a few years ago.

This aquarium is similar to, but larger and more professional than, one in Port Angeles. Your kids will enjoy either or both of them.
