“Winter Camping Wonderland”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

The Fort is great in the summer, but we prefer winter RV camping here. It is never crowded, and the weather is usually mild. If it is stormy, it is even more exciting. The town has The Wooden Boat Center, several marinas, galleries and shops, and many good restaurants, but the Fort is the jewel of Washington's State Parks. Winter rates are discounted for seniors. A week-long stay is barely enough to see all the sights and have beach time for sunrises and sunsets.

“Beautiful grounds. Stunning beach.”

This is the park where much of the 1982 movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed. Big park. Easy to have the beach to yourself.

Officer and a Gentleman was filmed here. There are many places to explore in this large park, great shore views and some forest walks. Need the state parking pass tho'.

“A historical park.”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

There are a row of old officer's quarter's and bunkers facing the water that had old canon's. There is an old lighthouse there. There is also places for picnics. The movie An Officer and a Gentlemen was filmed here.

“Interesting Piece of History”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

We visited Fort Worden State Park to specifically check out the bunker remains. We've been to Fort Casey several times & thought it would be neat to check out a different fort out of the "Triangle of Fire". I think Fort Worden might be my favorite so far (but this may be because I've been to Fort Casey so many times that it was nice to see something else). Be sure to bring a flashlight so you can explore the inside portions of the bunker. Compared to Fort Casey, Fort Worden has more accessible interiors. It gets a little creepy & there are some wet areas but definitely worth checking out! We also checked out the light house & the museum (there was a fee for the museum but it was only $2/person). The museum is worth checking out for the small fee.
