“Excellent hotel, victorian style!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Since my family went out of state, we decided to come back and visit Port Townsend. Staying at the Palace hotel made me feel i'm home again. Our stay was very relaxing especially after a day's tour in the city. Our bed was the coziest bed ever, very comfy and cozy! The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating too! Thank you! This hotel is really excellent, the victorian style! Can't wait to go back there again!

Manager Gary is rude obnoxious and almost threw me out for complaining about the rough nasty towels they give you. Never go there he is rude arrogant and cares nothing about the customers. I will never go back until he is replaced. He made me cry and laughed at me I spent 180 for my birthday and will never ever go back he would not know what customer service was if it bit him in the ?

We could have easily spent our entire two-week vacation in this inn and in this town. I loved the history of the building and the room was spacious and very comfortable. One warning; there is no elevator so you have 20-30 steps to negotiate.

It's situated right in the center of town. Once we parked the car, there was no need to move it. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We rode the ferry from the terminal across the street simply for an inexpensive way to get out on the water. There are several very good restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. The harbor is very pretty and directly across the street, as is a great coffee shop for water views in the the early morning. WiFi worked well.

Room Tip: The front corner room on the second floor has a view of the water. Others are at least partially ob...

Our first visit to the Palace. From the street, I had long admired the lobby with its 19th c. décor including an electric train during Christmas season. The desk clerk/porter had a most welcoming manner and showed obvious pride in the furnishings and history. He pointed out the details of our room which was spacious and clean. The bathroom had a Tiffany styled skylight that must be unique. The view was of the hill leading to Uptown..... We shall return.

Room Tip: Next time, we'll try a street side room, as there is often some interesting activity on Water S...

Port Townsend is a wonderful little town and the Palace Hotel is an historic gem. I love the structure of the building and the interior design. So much history there! The staff could not be more accomodating. Robert was very nice and helpful everytime I had a question. My room was on the top floor - the Miss Pearl. It has a beautiful water view. The only thing lacking was a/c. However, when I mentioned it to Robert, he got me a box fan that solved the problem.

Room Tip: Any room is great, each one has a history. Although you might try for a water view. No elevator - k...

I booked a room during the height of the season - late July, The only room available was expensive; the costliest two nights of my entire trip. There was a bit of a view of the water, and the location was very convenient, but overlooking the main street was a little noisy. The architecture was great, but there was no AC. The temperature was OK at night, but it would have been uncomfortable during the afternoon (fortunately, the area is so nice that there's not much reason to spend a lot of time in your hotel).

Room Tip: The view isn't really that great - opt for a less expensive room facing away from Water St.

This hotel is a trip to the past. It is in an old hotel built in the 1880s, which for a time in the 1920s was a bordello. The hotel was restored with the theme of the bordello with plush velvet chaises in the upstairs lobby. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The only thing that one needs to note is that the 3rd floor is a 4 story walk up. There are NO ELEVATORS. Fortunately, this wasn't a problem for me and my wife, but it is something that needs to be considered depending on a guest's age and physical condition. We would stay there again when in Port Townsend.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor were a 3 story walk up. Rooms on the 3rd floor a 4 story walk up.
