This little restaurant is a lovely family-run gem in the heart of Port Townsend (just a block off Water Street). As a local resident, I am continually delighted by the offerings that emerge from the cafe's bustling kitchen. There's not an item on the menu that doesn't make your mouth water -- from the turkey cranberry sandwich to the BLAST to the bountiful Cobb Salad or Smoked Salmon Caesar. Soups are so delicious they warm your heart as they delight your taste buds. And be careful when you walk past the pastry display because you'll want one of each! Unbelievable pies, including chocolate cream, peach/berry, coconut cream, and other brownie chocolate creations that astound your sweet tooth. A wide array of plump muffins and giant, delicious cookies will have you standing before the display case like a child, transfixed by all the beckoning treats spread out before you. And a great plus here, is the friendly and attentive family who owns the cafe. Despite how busy they may be, they always greet their customers warmly -- and when you've completed your Courtyard dining experience, they send you out the door with a kind word or two. If you're a local or a visitor and you haven't started patronizing the Courtyard Cafe, you're losing out on a fine experience. Meet a friend for lunch, grab some soup and a sandwich for a takeout dinner, duck in out of the rain for a coffee and pastry, or order a whole pie for a family dinner. Whatever you do, you'll be the recipient of food that comes from the kitchen with love.

This is a great spot for a breakfast, lunch, or in between snack. Their baked goods, all created on-site by the owners, and delectable. I love their cinnamon rolls and pie! The sandwiches on homemade bread and soups are just wonderful, too. It's right downtown in a historic home-turned restaurant/bakery. A great place to sit and chat with a friend while enjoying some great, homemade goodies.

My husband describes the the wait for service and the restaurant experience as painful. After reading the positive reviews for this cafe, I really looked forward to having lunch there with my husband and parents. Since the cafe was full inside, we found our own seats outside. It took about 20 minutes for us to get water and about another 20 minutes to get our orders taken. After another 10 min. or so the waiter returned and said they ran out of one of the items we ordered so my husband had to order something else. In the mean time, my mom and I were getting so hungry that we decided to go inside and order some cookies and a slice of pie before lunch. That in itself was difficult because the lady behind the counter took forever to help the couple of people in line ahead of us and one just wanted some ice. Although the sandwiches were tasty, our experience with trying to pay our check was the deciding factor for us to never come back. After attempting to flag down the waitress who obviously ignored us, my husband had to go inside to track her down. She comes to our table and asks us what we ordered. We tell her and she still took so long to give us our bill that my husband and dad went in to find her. They finally made "contact" so we could go, but we had jokingly said beforehand that they must not want us to pay so the meal must be free. That was two long hours of our short precious time in Port Townwsend.

After reading all the great reviews, we couldn't wait to try this place out. We got there about 11:30 on a Saturday. There was only one couple there. We got seated and given water. After 10 minutes another group came in. 10 minutes later their order was taken. I made eye contact with the waitress but still no service. We left after another 5 minutes and went to Hudson Point Restaurant where we had terrific service and food.
