The closest food to modern Japanese that I have found in the Pacific NW. Small restaurant that observes strict meal separation times - lunch until 2pm, then dinner at 5pm. Great decor - even the bathroom is worth seeing. Even the bowls and plates are consistent with the decor. Best of all, the food is excellent. I have been 4 times, including one time with friends who travel to Japan once a year. The food is well prepared, noodle shop-type food (not gourmet or fancy sushi type) with excellent soup bases, sauces, and a degree of spicy thrown in. The kitchen is a typical noodle shop open venue. Cooking is done often by the owner who maintains a clean, efficient kitchen. Try the tofu fries with two great sauces to begin the meal. Great meals for a brisk NW day or to celebrate the successful hike or kayak or sail or ?
