We stayed for the first time at the Washington Hotel and found it to be a unique yet charming experience. The bed had soft comfy linens and pillows and the decor was attractive. The old building had lots of charm and it was nice to have a shared little kitchenette with a microwave, books, games, and DVD's to offer. Checking in by calling the next day to obtain the access codes was kind of fun and we were even allowed to check in VERY early, 10am! Marilou cares for her guests with great detail and we will definitely be going back. Great location in the heart of downtown Port Townsend, steps away from all the shops, restaurants, and ocean scenery!

Our family very much enjoyed our two room suite at the Washington Hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with fridge, good coffee, and dvd player, all of which we really appreciate. The beds are so comfortable! We liked the key pad entry to the hotel and room. The setting is quite, yet centrally located. We had a delicious dinner down the street at The Fountain Cafe, and loved wandering the farmer's market Saturday morning. PT is a charming town and we found much to explore. I would gladly stay at the Washington Hotel again.

The thing I noticed when looking around at Port Townsend is almost all the accommodations are within $20 or so of each other.

We had a choice:
1.) Staying in a room with seasons of sand embedded in the carpet pad & polyester bedding.

2.) Newly remodeled rooms with fine linens, hand ironed sheets & pillow cases, with all the perks of a luxury hotel room. Managed by the lovely Marilou.

The choice for us was number 2: The Washington Hotel.

There are a couple other options that Marilou manages as well that are equally of interest and quality. So the real recommendation overall goes to her. Next time we are headed out to PT, she is the one we will call.

At the Washington Hotel Manager MariLou preps the beds and rooms with love and attention to detail. And by attention to detail I do mean that she irons the sheets and pillowcases. The cozy factor was such that on day three of our stay that I realized I hadn’t used my eye sleep mask once. High thread count sheets for the PM and delicious dark roast coffee with cups to go for those who have to scoot in the AM. Plus the common room of the Washington has extras like movies, microwave and an ironing board.
Our room was located above Washington St. with a view down through trees to Ave. and the Tapas bar.

Checking in was a breeze, a key pad with a code on the street level door and another for the room, sort of a relief and ultra modern to have no human interaction at all, just like borrowing a friends apartment for the weekend.

My girlfriends and I rented a two bedroom apartment with a small living area. It had great sheets, a comfortable area for visiting, fridge for drinks - it exceeded all our expectations. With its central location we could stop back in to drop off shopping multiple times in the day. It was more affordable than a Victorian B&B, offered a private area for visiting and a had a new stylish look that is fun. I recommend it highly!

We enjoyed a relaxing lunch with wine and a view at Jordini's On the Water, a lunch spot at 909 Water Street next to Wilderness Outdoor Store. A highlight was a delicious dinner at Silverwater Cafe. We also ate at Public House which is nice and has good beers but the food wasn't as special as Silverwater.

The Washington Hotel is not really a hotel. There is no restaurant, lobby, front desk or any public space aside from an alcove on the second floor containing some books and a microwave. Upon making a reservation, you are given a code to enter the front door and a second code to enter your room. Once you enter the door from the street, you climb a set of stairs up to your room (one of four in the building).
That said, the room was spacious and immaculate. The bed was luxurious and the bath was modern with plenty of hot water. if you are looking for a comfortable place with a central location, The Washington is just right. For hotel amenities, you should try elsewhere.

My friend and I stayed in this little hotel for a girl's night out. We expected it to be nice but the little touches, such as really nice wine glasses and a corkscrew, took it over the top. Marilou, whom I believe is the owner, was friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The two bedrooms were spacious, everything was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the location was very quiet. I think there were other guests but we never heard a sound from the other rooms. The hotel is located downtown but not on the main street so it is very quiet, even with the window open. It is a very short walk to everything you need such as restaurants and shopping. There was parking in the alley which is important when Port Townsend is busy. On top of that, it was very reasonable in cost for such a spacious suite.

Port Townsend is a great short trip from the Seattle area with wonderful shopping, restaurants, and art galleries. Having such a pleasant place to stay is an added enticement. There are some wonderful Victorian bed and breakfasts in Port Townsend and over the years I have stayed in several. I liked them very much. But sometimes I just want to visit with friends or family and don't necessarily want to sit at a group table. For those times, this will be my choice.
