“Not a good place for a wedding....”
Reviewed August 10, 2011

I can completely see how this B&B would be an amazing place for a lovely couples escape. However, the owners are not ready - whatsoever - to have their home be a wedding venue. "Stuffy" is an understatement. Not one of us felt welcome as guests, especially the day after the wedding. During the set up, if they were not hovering around us they were lurking and staring from the top window of their house. After, there were snide remarks, cold shoulders, and the FASTEST turn down service I've ever seen, just to get us out of there. We weren't a crazy bunch, we weren't overly loud and were relatively calm compared to other weddings I've been to, but the owners just don't present themselves as wedding venue appropriate. They seem like great people who have done amazing things with the place, but if you're looking for a laid back, calm experience - you may want to look elsewhere.

A group of 15 friends, largely couples, took over Cedar Cove Inn, a B&B in Port Orchard, for a weekend. This place is gorgeous! The rooms are generous, each with their own period bathroom, the kitchen a gourmet chef's delight! Cathy and Gil, the owners took this place and completely restored it, while modernizing the kitchen. Go to the website (www.cedarcoveinn.com)and look at the photos. The work and love invested are readily apparent. The garden is beautiful! As hosts, they are gracious and hospitable. We didn't get to sample their breakfasts as we took over all the rooms and did our own cooking. The house has wrap around decks on the first and second floors with seating to watch the sunset or sit with wine and snack in the afternoon/evening or with coffee in the morning.
A beautiful setting for a wedding, family reunion or just reserving a room for a romantic get away or with friends. There are good restaurants in town.

Unfortunately, the view across the water is of the Bremerton naval yard, but even so, I can't wait to go back! Easy access from Seattle; take the Southworth ferry from Fauntleroy and then drive 15020 minutes west to Port Orchard.

Room Tip: I think all rooms have a view.

I stayed here with a group of friends that took over the entire inn, so it was bed without breakfast. We used the spacious and well laid out kitchen for 4 meals. This is a very large, beautiful inn with windows everywhere. It sits on a hill above the main street and has views in 2 if not 3 directions, overlooks the Sound and Bremerton. You van walk down the hill to the main street where there are several restaurants, a farmers' market (in season). Every room is nicely decorated, has very comfortable beds, and has it's own bath. There is a lot of public shared space inside and wrap around porches on the first and second floors. It is a 3 story house and there is an elevator which I never saw. The garden is very pretty (but not big enough for anything but a small wedding, I would think). The owners are extremely nice, non-intrusive, and can show you a photographic history of the house if you are interested.
I thought the place was terrific and plan to go back for a weekend as a bed and breakfast guest.

Room Tip: Many rooms face the Sound, not all. Ask.

We loved the Cedar Cove Inn. It was spotless clean, open & light, with 7 guest rooms to choose from. Each room had its own full bath with big clawtooth tubes and beautiful antique furnishings. The view from the Inn is amazing, overlooking the inlet and viewing Bremerton across the water. If you are a Delilah fan, you can eat at her restaurants, Delilah's Cozy Kitchen. Down home food. The breakfast at the Inn was scruptious and the hosts who live in the carriage house were so down to earth and friendly and inviting. Gil, the co-owner, greeted us at the porch upon our arrival even though it was close to midnight.

Oh, and if you are a Debbie MacComber fan, she wrote a Cedar Cove series of books based on the Inn.

Highly recommend!

This B&B is a little over 100 years old and has been beautifully restored. There is an elevator if you need it. The views of the water are perfect. The rooms on the second floor have a huge wraparound deck with chairs to relax in. Each room has plenty of space & each one has it's own full bathroom. The rooms are decorated tastefully & thoughtfully. The beds are super comfy! The owners run the place themselves and are wonderful, friendly people. They live in the carriage house next door. They allowed us to use their internet service to print our boarding passes and gave suggestions for things to do in the area. Breakfast is healthy and delicious. It's a quick walk to the foot ferry to Bremerton. We can't say enough about this place, it was fantastic. So peaceful & relaxing. Best B&B we've EVER stayed at!!!
