“Great place for a flashback and good food.”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

The food was good and the price was reasonable. The fact that they have keep things form when it was a gas station and some cool stuff from the town is very cool. Good to see it is keeping with the nostalgic look and not going yuppie. Very fun to sit and eat lunch and look at the old house I lived in as a child. Worth a visit.

“Nice little town,,this Port Gamble.”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Always like to try the local BBQ. Poulsbo doesn't have so much BBQ, so came to Port Gamble. Like this little town on the peninsula. Visit the town, and if you want some BBQ,,this Mike's might quench your desires. I thought it was just average food and taste at best. Nothing really stood out for us. Had a couple of sandwiches, one with beef, the other with chicken. Nice atmosphere in a nice town.

“Great ribs”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Driving by on the way home this evening, we decided to give this place a try and we weren't disappointed. We had the half rack of ribs which came with the smoked BBQ beans and cole slaw. We also ordered the onion rings which was the only minus. We enjoyed the local feel of the restaurant as we are quiet tired of chain restaurants. The ribs were thick and meaty and juicy. My wife enjoyed the smoked beans. The only down side was the onion rings. The type batter they use tastes pretty oily, a lighter batter would be better. You can also eat inside or outside. The hours are fine with us as we are locals. Can't wait to go back and try the pulled pork sandwich!

“Great food, many gluten-free options.”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

As someone who travels for a living, AND suffers from a serious food allergy, I tiptoe into new places with a healthy dose of trepidation. I ask about segregated equipment, sauces, and hidden ingredients. To my surprise, they answered everything perfectly. Come to find out, the chef has a gluten allergy too, so he knows his stuff.

He knows his barbeque too--it is fantastic! I had the pulled pork, beans and slaw. The pork was divine, the slaw was novel and creative and the beans were good, but not especially amazing. Prices were reasonable.

If you visit in the winter, be warned that the building (a very cool old service station) is frigid, so bring a sweater, or eat more barbeque.

You won't regret a visit to Mike's.

“Worth the drive”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

I've eaten here several times, plus I have also gotten take out. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere informal and friendly. I know some complain that it isn't the type of BBQ they are used to (Texas, Memphis, Kansas City, Carolinas, etc) but regardless of that, this is very good. We like the brisket and the ribs the best, probably.

As to the hours, well, it is in a small tourist town, and with a product like BBQ it probably makes no sense to be open every day. Even so, they are open 4 days a week including weekends when people are most likley to be passing through on their way to or from the Olympic Penninsula.
