“Decent room but felt abandoned :)”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

We stayed in the main lodge for three nights and we were nearly the only people there. It would have been nice to know that the "resort" was closing the restaurant for most of the stay before we arrived. We understand that business is slow but we should have been informed upon making the reservation.

Most, if not all of the staff departed at 5 PM.

Most of the equipment in the rec area is broken. We appaud the efforts the staff is making but unless you are desperate, I would not stay here.

We stayed with family in one of the houses. It was not an ocean front view but we were happy that 8 of us and 2 small dogs were able to stay together at a reasonable price.
The unit was basically clean but window and door jams could use some extra cleaning. Kitchen was well supplied and we were able to easily fix most of our meals.
Beach access is easy by car or a short walk. Pacific Beach has a wonderful flat, sandy beach area.
The town of Pacific beach is economically depressed. You may or maynot find business open. Moclips or Ocean Shores are a short drive. Resturant in the administration bldg was open...

Room Tip: Request Ocean view if available

We've been coming to Pac Beach for years, most often staying in one of the houses. This time we stayed in the "hotel." It was not clean. Management needs to step in to make sure the cleaning crews do a more thorough job of cleaning. A ring of grunge was growing where the under mounted sink meets the vanity top. Horizontal surfaces were dusty; windows were dirty.

Compared to my last trip to the resort 6 years ago the hotel is much nicer. With remodeled cottages the facilities have been vastly upgraded. A great place to stay for a couple days and enjoy the beach. The only problem is that there is not much to do around Pacific Beach other than going to the beach so you better go when it is warm.

My Spousal Unit and I have stayed here several times, and will stick with the cottages in the future. They are a great value, and perfect for those of us with dogs. The rooms are basic military cinderblock construction, and unless you have no other option, should be avoided!
The cottages are the exact opposite of the hotel rooms; comfortable, well-appointed, and roomy. The Windjammer Restaurant is okay, especially for breakfast. Staff is friendly and competent.

Unfortunately, with the new centralized Navy Lodging reservation system, what used to be a straightforward process for reserving a cottage has become an example of military bureaucracy at its most inefficient worst. Even though I am fairly adept at navigating the maze of automated system hell, my call was cut off seven straight times, so I gave up and booked a place elsewhere. (Same issue with the internet booking system.) Until that "Charlie Foxtrot" of a reservation process gets fixed, I doubt if we will attempt another stay. Too bad.

Room Tip: Avoid the hotel rooms if you can, and get a cottage. It's well worth it.

We stayed in a cottage for 2 nights. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cottages were very large and stocked, andclean. A great place for families to enjoy being together. If we are in the northwest again we'll stay here. Thanks for a nice time.

My wife and I have stayed in both the hotel and the cottages many times. The cottages are on a bluff over the beach with a fantastic view, and are a short stroll to the beach itself. Cottages are fully equipped with a complete kitchen with pots and pans and dishes. Some have a fireplace, some do not.

My two complains are no Internet except two very slow terminals in the lobby, and no elevator in the three story main hotel - so if you rent a Jacuzzi Suite, you'll be hauling your bags up and down three flights of stairs.

There is a full bar and a restaurant, no room service. The restaurant leaves something to be desired, but there are many places with excellent food withing short driving, and the nearby casino has several top notch restaurants.

There is a full gym with sauna, a two lane bowling alley, and a small theater, all free to guests. You may rent rooms for your non-DoD / Military friends during your stay. There are as well, camping and RV spots and laundry facilities.

Room Tip: The four bedroom cottages are closer to the beach.
