This small Italian restaurant is a great place for a small and intimate dinner party or date night. The food is authentic Italian and the menu is small.

We've been wanting to try out this place for years. Each time we darkened the doorstep, we were sent away because we didn't have a reservation. They are constantly packed. They were well worth the wait.
The owner/chef is straight out of the Sicilian area of Italy, complete with that enchanting Italian accent. We told the wait staff to bring us the chef's favorites. We started with caprese and moved on to our main courses of two different pastas that were to die for (my personal favorite was the Norma--pene with a magical meaty sauce and fresh basil). My husband had a Manhattan martini and I enjoyed an Italian Punch. If you like amaretto, this is the drink for you. They serve STRONG drinks...excellent!
After the main course we were served a small green salad. The lettuce was crisp and cold, tossed in a vinagrette. We were told it is customary in Italy to have the salad after the main course.
Lastly, we tried the tiramisu and canoli. The tirimisu was a bit soggy, but it had good flavor. Not the best we've ever had. The canoli was good. The shell was crisp, and the filling creamy.
We were enchanted ny the dark atmosphere, the Italian opera playing in the background, and the "enthusiastic discussions" being held in the kitchen. This was a fun outing for us, and definitely a must-try if you wamt to experience a wonderful, authentic Italian dinner in Olympia.

My husband and I finally tried Trinacria. My husband LOVES to discover small, hole-in-the wall restaurants, and had been wanting to try it for years.

The food at Trinacria is everything Sicilian food should be. It is simple, flavorful, unpretentious and delicious. The menu is not extensive, but everything on the menu is outstanding.

Imagine yourself driving down a country road in Sicily, stopping at a local farmhouse to ask for directions.....only to be invited for dinner. That is Trinacria. The cuisine is simple but delicious. Having travelled in Italy, this is authentic. No hype, no fancy decor...just palate pleasing fare. The chef/owner, Eugenio, has prepared a menu from his Sicilian heritage and prepares every meal served. If you want to 'walk in' without reservations, try 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. Eugenio only accepts a limited number of customers each night to make sure that each meal is hot and fresh. If you are a fan of Olive Garden, this is not a freezer to table restaurant. All the ingredients are fresh and prepared at the time of the order. The pastas are simple with savory sauces....my favorite being the rigatoni, followed by the Eugenio. I will say that if you love Tiramisu, you are in for a treat. It is world class! Eugenio's family recipe, it is light and melt in your mouth goodness that will spoil you for anyone elses. While, there are several Italian restaurants in Olympia that offer ambiance, fancy decor, extensive menus, and expensive wine lists, Trinacria is the restaurant that offers authentic, delicious Sicilian dishes, affordable wine pairings, and good service in a simple but comfortable setting.

Eugenio's own vision. Simple menu of well-done italian with Eugenio's own selected wine list. Small, intimate, checker table cloths, candles and all. You almost always need a reservation, but it can't hurt to try. Eugenio likes to come out and cruise the tables, with his apron and hair net still on, asking if you like your meal. It's worth the money just to hear his accent. Ask him about his vintage classic sports car interest.
