“Good for the most part”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014

I attended a three day meeting at the Governor Hotel and would have to say that the service was very good and the breakfast was good as expected. The only complaint that I had was the temperature in the meeting room was 59-60 degrees. The staff was diligent in trying to fix the problem. The third day, they moved in portable heat and got the room up to 69 degrees.

I recently stayed at the hotel for several days. Room (top/8th floor) was in good shape and appeared to have almost brand new furniture. Bathroom was a bit cramped and dated, but well maintained. One of the front desk people told me that the owners bought the place around Oct 2013. I noticed that they are putting a steady effort into improving the place, but certain things are still lacking. All food at the hotel is catered, so no room service. My room's AC/Heater did not seem to work (just circulated air), but luckily opening the sliding glass door overlooking the park/water made it an enjoyable experience. The other park outside the front door is another story... Several groups of apparently homeless and mentally disturbed people make this their spot during the day. Practically everyday there were stories from the other members of my group about a fight, person screaming, or strange behavior from these people. I feel sorry for the owners of the hotel, as they are putting a lot of hard work into making a better place but the surroundings are challenging.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms on the top floor have been remodeled/updated and get one on the back side of...

The renovations are nice and everything was clean, Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, we arrived on a warm sunny day, The curtains were open and the room was incredibly hot when we moved in, We turned the air on which was of no help. The front desk was helpful in that they moved us cheerfully after telling us it was an old hotel and sometimes the air did not work, Her solution was to open the window which made matters even worse. We moved to the other side of the hotel and the air did not work any better and resolved to open a window and listen to traffic and street sweepers through the night, Even an old hotel needs some form of air circulation or cooling - especially when it is located on a busy street. We will probably not return.

Governor was great! Outside not that exciting (including parking), but room (with lake view) was very nice! Near all including the Capital & many places to eat. We'd stay again. No bar in hotel. Comfy bed. Girl at desk very helpful with menus etc.

There was a bit of a chemical
smell and the bathroom was not completely clean. Not a big deal because we got such a great price and the front desk was really helpful. Complimentary breakfast was awesome! Wish we could have enjoyed it more but pushy group of middle-aged bicyclists were cutting in line to "carbo-load." Weird and really the only disappointing part. Gave the husband something to talk about though!

Perfect location for my event. Rooms are nothing like picture on the website. I could not bring myself to use the shower. Toilet and shower visibly dirty and not cleaned. Fragrant spray used instead of cleaning. Front desk service was great.

The staff is so friendly, rooms clean and there is coffee and tea available in the lobby 24 hours. The building is a little old and seems a little run down in places but the rooms are updated. Modern bathrooms and beds are comfortable. There are flat screen TVs in the rooms as well as mini fridge, coffee makers and blow driers. I stayed here when I came to Olympia to run the half marathon(capitol city). It's is a perfect location right at the start and finish. All rooms have bath tubs as well for a post race ice bath! I loved my stay at the Governor Hotel and will def be back! The staff was very accommodating and allowed for later check out for marathoners.

Room Tip: rooms on the west side of the building can get hot when the sun is out.
