“Great hotel on the ocean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Every September we spend a long family weekend at the ocean and we always stay here at the Best Western and have never been disappointed. It's on the edge of town so you don't hear traffic and noise and it's very close to the ocean, only 100 or 150 yards and you're on the beach. It's a short walk into town on the back road. They are always very friendly and accommodating. There's an indoor pool and hot tub and it gets busy in the afternoons with kids but in the evenings it quiets down. Outside they have a counter and sink to clean the clams you dug out on the beach. The units have a gas fireplace and small kitchen area so you can bring and cook your own food including the clams. There's a deck and chairs so you can sit out and enjoy the evening. There's a restaurant on the premises but we've never been very impressed. Breakfast is the usual hotel fare with industrial eggs and sausage. The waffles are good (you make your own) and there's lots of fruit and such. The best rooms are on the top floor facing the ocean and you'll likely see deer roaming the underbrush between the hotel and the beach. Sunsets are beautiful and I love to sit out on the deck with coffee and a book and enjoy the twilight. Book ahead, especially in the summer since there are many festivals on the weekends.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor facing the ocean are the best - quieter and a great view of the ocean and sun...

We have stayed here several times over the years with our last visit in 2006. I was a bit concerned at some of the not so favorable reviews recently, However, we decided to book and stay here as our family has had special memories here. We were very pleased with our stay, The room was updated and very clean! We love the idea of being able to walk to the beach from our hotel. Each room has a ocean view which is a must if you are at the beach. The complimentary breakfast downstairs was nice and provided several items. All the staff here were very nice. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean facing room for a full view. There are a few side rooms that have a partial ocean...

My husband and I decided to take our grandsons, 14 and 7, for a few terrific days to the best "kid-friendly' beach town on Washington's coast. Being HUGE fans of 'Best Western' already, it was a NO BRAINER to select the Best Western Plus Lighthouse Suites Inn located in Ocean Shores, WA. We had two adjoining rooms that suited our every need and want PERFECTLY! Each room had a TV (this chain thinks of EVERY KEY DETAIL); a cozy fireplace, more than adequate furniture - there were 2 King beds for our comfort; the room was designed with comfort and luxury blended most appealingly with all the standard amenities to include a large balcony with a gorgeous view. The boys totally enjoyed using their binoculars to watch all activity with exuberance and curiosity appropriate for their ages.

Our youngest grandson became quite ill the first night there and the Desk Staff could not have extended their energies towards his comfort or assisting us to their utmost degree if they had tried. They inquired as to his well-being on EVERY SHIFT with genuine and sincere concern. We were THRILLED with their complimentary SCRUMPTIOUS breakfast buffet to include individually made WAFFLES, PANCAKES, scrambled eggs, fresh sausage links, fruit piled so high we thought it would fall over, cereals, muffins, bagels, 4 or 5 different coffees, assorted teas and hot drinks and a variety of fresh juices!! Again, the staff at breakfast broke the 'nice meter' and it never ceased. The pool was a complete DELIGHT, especially with the long hours available for swimming and a private adult-only time frame late in the evening.

My husband went to the store to pick up some items for the little guy who was sick. He actually ran into one of the Desk Clerks (Off duty) who literally took the time to acquaint him as to where he could find the items he was searching for! Talk about a staff that exemplifies going the extra mile.......!!! Best Western has accomplished it again in our book. TOP NOTCH AND TERRIFIC!!

Room Tip: ALWAYS seek a room with an Ocean View. It is a feature you DON'T WANT TO COMPROMISE ON!

The lady behind the counter, Erika, was extremely helpful. The hotel was clean with a beautiful view of the ocean. BW (self-service) full breakfast menu. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Ocean Shores was having a Clam Digging Festival, although, we were more shoppers! The beach goes for miles, good for kite flying. It was just a great stay.

Room Tip: Book in advance if you want a quite ocean view.

Spur of the moment Saurday at 3 pm took off with wife for a quick 1.5 hr drive to spend the night on the coast. Looked up online booked and off we went. Arrived to find a young man waiting to check us in. After looking for our name and me being a little snobbish that yes indeed we had a reservation!! I pulled out my I pad to get the confirmation#. It was for SUNDAY!!! My >#%€=^ fault!! He was very courteous and cancelled that "non- cancelable" reservation and was able to place us in a similar room. Even though for Saturday it was a little more money I gladly paid the difference for him putting up with my absolute positive attitude about our reservation. The rooms two queens with balcony and gas fireplace very nice. Get a top floor if you hate hearing your neighbors walk around above you. Floors and walls quite thin. Don't eat the breakfast!, the eggs are not from earth chickens!!! They must get them from the ocean out back. Burnt, the most rubbery eggs I've ever had. The sausage was in the same league. We had waffles which are always good.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room. A little more $$$, but for not hearing your neighbor walking above you for me...

We booked a room at the last minute and obtained a dunes view on the first floor. Staff was courteous and helpful at check in & check out with ease. The room was very spacious. Large counter with 2 sinks outside the bathroom. I always like to spread out and had plenty of room to put all my stuff. We had 2 queen beds which were fine. The separate sitting room had a sink, microwave, mini frig with a large counter and storage, although we didn't use with only staying one night it would very nice if staying several days. Sofa/bed & chair also in the sitting room with a door to our little patio. There was a cheesy electric fireplace that did not add any ambiance as they probably wished for, too bad it wasn't a real fireplace. Great location right by a road to the beach. Marking down my rating just because of the fireplace. Would definately stay here again.

Room was a corner room with beautiful views. Service personnel were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is close to the ocean and has very good amenities, it is not a resort but it is a nice hotel in a small beach town.
