Upon arriving my husband politely asked if they had an idea of when our room would be ready, which he asks no matter where we stay. The lady behind the desk told us in no uncertain terms, that check in isn't till 4 p.m, that's when our room will be ready, her tone was rude and condescending.

My daughter-in-law, granddaughter and myself were in the pool, after 5 minutes, a man watching over his teenage children came to the other end of the pool and told us we needed to get out of the pool that someone had deficated in the pool, and this was after he had gone and reported it to the front Desk...we got out quickly and dried off, at no time did any hotel staff inform us that we needed to leave the pool!! And to topo it off, it wasn't until at the least an hour later before they had posted a sign on the pool door about the pool!! This was just gross.

The following morning we went to eat breakfast.....this was just horrible. The food was of poor quality, the area was a mess, and not once while we were sitting there did anyone clean anything up, and it was NOT busy. The worst experience we have ever had at a hotel.

The size of the room and the view was its only redeeming quality.

We stayed here as part of a group (wedding party and guests). The hotel staff is friendly and the hotel is right at the edge of the dunes for easy access to the beach. We stayed in a king suite, plenty of room to move about and includes a kitchenette of sorts (wet bar, mini fridge & microwave). The rooms also have private balconies so you can sit and watch the sunsets. There is a library and a tiny arcade adjacent to the lobby. The WiFi worked well.
Breakfast is included and is served at the attached restaurant ("Waves") continental-style. Nothing to write home about (or a review about), but was adequate. We did not use the restaurant (which also includes a lounge/bar) for lunch/dinner, but it appeared to be popular locally (judging by the cars in that part of the parking lot).
If you choose to stay here, (1) request a room on the 2nd - 4th floor for an ocean view (1st floor is "dune view" because you can't see the ocean over them!); and (2) avoid rooms 1-3 (101, 102, 103, 201, 301, etc.) as they are partial view on the north side of the hotel with the view of the campground across the road; you get noise from there as well as from the road immediately below (cars and pedestrians). I do not know if this is the best place at the beach in Ocean Shores, but is plenty nice enough and would be a good choice.

Room Tip: Avoid the "1-3" rooms on any floor (201, 202, 203, etc.). Less view & more noise.

We stayed at BW Lighthouse Inn for two nights on an Olympic peninsula trip after a week long Alaska cruise. Lighthouse Inn did not dissapoint! It was probably the most fun we had on the trip. I know, I read the reviews about the hotel being loud and dirty but most people liked it and we took the chance. Yes, the hotel needs some remodeling, especially the pool and spa area and maybe the carpets need updating but it was clean and there was no noise at all. We stayed Wed/Thurs nights and it wasn't full. We got an ocean view room on second floor. The view was awesome. I loved being right on the beach and you can drive your car up to the water. My kids had fun finding seashells and chasing the seagulls. They even have a clam washing station right in front of the hotel but the clams were not in season. This is one place we will definitely stay again.

What a fun place, you can actually drive your car on the beach from the hotel. Their breakfast is just ordinary but there are some good seafood place in town.

We enjoyed our stay here. Hotel was clean, very easy to get to and great location. We even had deer in the back area of the hotel walking in the bush area, between hotel and beach. beds were hard, but we really enjoyed the hotel. Drinks in the bar were also very good, and reasonably priced. Free breakfast was also very good.

we had resorvations for saturday the 9th of april 2011 well when we got there our room wasent available but understandable because we checked in early but when it came 4 pm check in time the room was not available still the people at the front desk were very rude! on top of that i had the cash ready when we got there and then found out that they wanted an extra 50 dollars which they did not tell me over the phone about so we had to cancel the resorvations. being military and with kids that was the worse experiance EVER!!! i would not reccomend staying there unless you make sure you get all your info before you arrive! i would reccomend staying at the sands resort which is where we ended up that night there are no un expected fees and nor charge to your card at all for resorvations . also the discovery inn was fabulous!!! we stayed there friday night .

We spent last weekend here with three teenage girls. The weather forecast was for mostly sunny skies so we grabbed the chance to sneak in a quick trip to the beach. We grabbed two rooms rather than try to squeeze us all into one with a roll-away. The rooms were identical. They were large with a sitting area just past the two beds. There was also a small counter with a refrigerator, microwave & sink. This was a nice addition. We were on the second floor so the view to the ocean was unimpeded from the small balcony. The rooms were clean and reasonably priced although the cost for the extra person beyond two seemed a bit more than necessary given the what you get for the extra money (some food at the free morning breakfast). This hotel is very close to the beach and there is an access road to the beach right next door. This made accessing the beach very convenient (see below for one caution).

As far as faults - this hotel needs some updating. The furniture and carpeting in the rooms seemed older (the beds were nice though). The ceiling in the pool area was peeling and needed repair. Speaking of the pool, it is right off the lobby across from the front desk. Its kind of an awkward place for a pool. Another problem was headlights from cars coming off the beach. We were on the north end of the hotel and whenever a car exited the beach the headlight flashed through our room. You could avoid this by asking for a room on the south end of the building. We also didn't like the timer on the fireplace. You turn it on and 30-minutes later it turns off. While it isn't a big deal you have to get up and spin the timer again and wait 30-seconds for the fire to relight. This in not convenient when you are trying to relax and enjoy the fire. Speaking of the fire - it is merely for aesthetics as it produces no heat. Finally, we were unimpressed with the breakfast. The food was okay but had to be restocked on favorites items frequently.

So, it wasn't the best Best Western we ever stayed at but by far it wasn't the worst place we ever stayed either.
