After wandering the coast surrounding the Olympic National Park and then heading south along the Pacific, we were astonished at the lack of good restaurants, even restaurants that billed themselves as seafood specialists were selling frozen, mass-produced, bland and starchy crabcakes. So Emily's (in AAA book) was an oasis of really great food and cheerful service. Dinner was perfect, breakfast not so much but still far better than average. Right on the beach. Only downside was the cigarette smoke wafting in from the casino, even though the restaurant itself is no-smoking. Hint there's a coffee shop right outside the restaurant, grab your fix before being seated because the house coffee is bleh.

We had a wonderful experience dining here. I was a bit hesitant because of the smoke we were sure to encounter, seeing that it is a casino. But there was none in the restaurant.

The seafood was fresh, and the preparations were excellent. They even came to our hotel to pick us up and take us home.

We ate breakfast here while we were staying at the lodge. Could not get dinner reservations because they were booked up. We had breakfast on Sunday before we left. My food was cold and eggs were undercooked. Thought about doing the breakfast/brunch buffet, but it was $19.95 per person, more than we wanted to spend on breakfast.

We have eaten at Emily's twice in the past 3-4 years. The first time the food was good. The second time the food was horrible; the prime rib was so tough you could break your jaw chewing. Needless to say based on the latter experience, even when we stayed at the casino overnight, we didn't eat at Emily's. Therefore, it was with some trepidation that I made a reservation for dinner while we were at the casino gambling yesterday.

It was my husband's birthday and a meal to remember because it was so outstanding. The salads with the entrees were excellent. My husband had a NY strip steak with peppercorn sauce and Yukon Gold potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, flavorful and ever so tender. I had pan fried scallops with a wasibi and ginger cream sauce and pureed sweet potatoes. The scallops cut like butter and melted in your mouth. There were a lot of them too--5. The sweet potatoes were an attractive and tasty accompaniment to the scallops. My compliments to the chef.

The only downside was that we didn't have room for desserts.

The Friday Night Seafood Buffett is good and worth the money. Always plenty of Prime rib, fresh crab legs, and shrimp to go around. It does get busy early though, so it is a good idea to call ahead of time and make a reservation. They also have a great Sunday Brunch - you won't be disappointed and the service has always been above standard as well. We have eaten there many times now on our visits to Ocean Shores and we have never had a bad experience.
