Photographing Snowy Owls has brought me back here after being away about forty years. The area is unique, the surf is large, surfers can often be seen, snowy owls frequent here when food sources are in short supply up north, many people exercise here, and some collect rocks. Huge ships can often be seen going in and out of the harbor. I would recommend this place if you are visiting Ocean Shores. The Interpretive Center near Damon Point is a must see place to visit, they will give you great advice on what there is to do here, learn about safety, and they have many books for sale and exhibits to see and enjoy.

You can see for miles and the waves crashing on the big rocks are fascinating to watch. Picture opportunities are endless.

It's a good place to just watch the power of nature as massive waves crash against the man-made rock jetty. Calming and awe-inspiring at the same time.
The beach itself is a little different each visit, due to the wave patterns coming off the jetty. I saw a big concentration of rocks and agates one time, and just plain sandy the next.
It's free and plenty of free parking by the road. Bring a jacket even in the summer as the winds are always breezy at the point. Don't really recommend as a picnic spot unless you want your food spiked with lots of sand.

No trip to Ocean Shores is complete without spending time at the North Jetty. The sea birds and the seals are fascinating to watch. The power of the sea and the wealth of life along the jetty should not be missed. There is a great view from the top of the dune on the north side. you can see most of Grays Harbor as well as the Olympic mountains. Don't pass this up!

Wet and Wild, even if the sun doesn't shine it is a fantastic experience. You can walk along the beach and find large rocks with muscles on them. They can be huge. Take them back and cook them in butter and garlic! Incredible. Now there are things floating up on the beach from the Japan earthquake . How cool is that? We have several glass fishing floats. Just remember not to park your car below the high tide mark. The tow trucks in Ocean Shores make a fortune pulling out stuck vehicles and once they get salt water on their innards, they are done. Can't fix that damage.
