I am starting to question the pallets of those who gave this place five stars. Hear me out, we came with friends who at the last minute asked us if we wanted to join them for a weekend stay at the neighboring hotel.
When it was time for dinner we went to several local food locations only to find long waits in line. Since we wanted a nice sit down dinner we chose not to eat at McDonalds and opted for Mariah's instead. The food locations in Ocean Shores are very limited.
The atmosphere of this hotel is like the neighboring hotel next door -- very dated.
The dinner was okay, my friends steak was covered in grissel. The potato on the side was good but that was about as far as we got. The prices were way to high. I had the salmon which was overcooked but I actually like it that way. Others in our group were not too happy about that.
You would think we learned our lesson but the hotel manager next door said that Mariah's serves a breakfast buffet for only $12 and since they chose not to serve their breakfast on the weekend at the hotel this was a quick option. It's breakfast how can you screw that up?
Well, apparently you can. You serve the same food I ate at camp. Canned fruit and pastries that I am sure from the the USDA food service program. The positive note I will say is that the staff are very friendly. Next time I will eat at McDonalds or go to the casino and eat there.
