Nancy's room was just perfect and we had the whole house to our selves. Ginger was such a great cook, I think this B & B wins the best ever award from us. Monday was not a good day to visit, because our best places to eat were closed so we drove to Astoria and visited and ate at the new McMenamins in Gearhart which was just as good as all the others, with the rain golf wasn't in the offering but the greens looked great. Oyster lovers with love this place, the breakfast were excellent, and the extra touches of furniture, quilts and flowers and the sun room were just a touch of heaven.

Room Tip: Nancy's looks out on the garden, Charles and Elsa rooms face the Bay... It was hard to choose

We were in town for a wedding and wanted something better than the motels in town. This was my first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and if they are all as wonderful as this, I will be staying at them more often. Ginger was a wonderful host and the house is absolutely charming. We had a view of the bay and happened to be in town for beautiful weather. Ginger's breakfast was amazing and even invited our friends that were staying at someone's house for breakfast. We were all amazed at how fresh and wonderful the food was. We had to leave town early the next morning to catch our flight home and Ginger left us to go coffee cups and a breakfast bag with bagels, yogurt, water and bananas.

I am usually up all night at any hotel trying to get comfortable in a strange bed without my pillows. Not true at the Charles Nelson house. The bed was amazing and the pillows were perfect. I am a picky sleeper and I couldn't have been happier sleeping there.

Ginger goes above and beyond for her guests and we hope to make a visit here again next year.

After traveling so far from Georgia to see our grandson graduate from the Univ. of Pugent Sound in Tacoma, we wanted to get away from the traffic and see the coast in a quiet place. While searching online, I found the Charles Nelson Guest House and thought it sounded like just the place. We were not disappointed. Ginger is warm and friendly and her home and garden are something to behold. We went to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and thought it was great. We saw an eagle's nest beside the highway with active parents taking fish to the eaglets. Ginger told us of two good restaurants for dinner and the best thing of all was Ginger's breakfast. We had never had oysters prepared the way she did them (sautéed in a light batter with lemon juice). Down south they are either fried, in a casserole or raw. Along with eggs anyway you like, fruit, juice, coffee etc. it was divine. It was a wonderful two days.

Room Tip: Elsa's room is very comfortable with a private bath and a view of the bay.

This little B&B is very charming. The three guest rooms are all lovely. We have been here 4 times now, and plan to come back many more. Ginger is an excellent hostess; warm and friendly, while also giving us space to enjoy time just as a family. Breakfasts are to die for, and her specialty (in addition to breakfast) is fried oysters. Simply the best oysters that I have had, ever. Truly a great getaway!

In looking for a B&B for a romantic weekend on the coast with my wife, I called many places but this was the first where a person answered the phone. Ginger was very friendly on the phone and I booked. Great decision!

The location is about 3 hours from Tacoma with long sections along very scenic coast line. When we got there, Ginger was waiting for us and showed us everything around the house. There were many decorations and interesting things to look at in the house, which you got free roam of because Ginger lives next door. If you ever need her to ask a questions, you can just ring the door bell and she'll pop right over.

She made reservations for me at local restaurant which I probably would have driven past were it not her suggestion. Then we spent a little time at the tavern down the road and picked up some snacks at the Grocery store on the way back to the Charles Nelson from the tavern. When we got back, ginger had homemade fudge, peanut butter bars, lemon bars, and sugar cookies waiting for us in the living room. There was also some bourbon on the coffee table so we spent the rest of the night talking and listening to music. There was a music player in every room!

The next morning the breakfast was awesome, having 4 different kinds of juice, gourmet tea, a big glass of ice water and fresh fruit cured my hangover. There was so much good food I didn't make a dent in my main course and I think I may have hurt Ginger's feelings.

After breakfast it was a short drive up the road to the Leadbetter Pointe State park, the tip of the peninsula. There is a combination of trails that will take you along the bay side, through dense woods, and out onto the ocean beach. If you go at low tide, you can find all kinds of creatures in the tidal flats on the bay side; sponges, crabs, clams, oysters, mussels, we even saw some large tracks, maybe elk or deer. The whole loop is about 4 miles, and very easy, just be sure to bring rubber boots during the winter months as the trails do flood.

The location was perfect for a weekend away. The service was on a different level. For less money than a night at a Seattle Ramada, with no amenities, this is a great value. The rooms were comfortable and each has its own bathroom.

I would love to return, perhaps this summer.

Room Tip: Elsa is the biggest and has the king size bed and huge bathroom, but Charles has a view of the Bay a...

How fitting, as you sit at the dining table gazing out on Willapa Bay, where 25% of the US oysters are grown, to enjoy pan fried oysters with a savory breakfast entree. Of course, bacon/ sausage is also available, along with fruit juice, homemade pastries, etc.
Besides being a wonderful cook, the hostess was warm and accommodating, willing to chat, but not overbearing, with good tourism advice.
The home is historic and comfortable. Rooms good-sized and tastefully decorated. Quiet, peaceful location. Lovely gardens.
